Favorite Foods at AT&T?

I want to know if theres any new or better combination of food at AT&T.I usually eat out or try to sneak in food, but I do eat there occasionally. I personally love the Cha Cha bowl which I found out about recently. Before I found out about it I usually always buyt:

Garlic Fries, Bratwurst, and Lemonade or Soda

and sometimes Peanuts

Are there any other goodies or foods I missed?

Tried the Cha Cha,

Not as good as I heard it would be. I like the Sheboygan and Garlic fries tho. There was a fanpost recently on food at the park.

The burgers at the grill on the Lefty O’Doul Plaza are large, very good and a bargain compared to everything else at the park ($7.50). If I feel like getting a dog, I’ll get a grilled Home Run Dog at one of the stands facing away from the field and slather it with BBQ sauce. As for drinks, I’d much rather just get them at a convenience store or the Happy Donuts then pay $3 for a souvenir cup.

Don't you it's gonna be all right. But not right now.

Hot dog with BBQ sauce?

Now that’s a new one to me.

You have been deprived.

I’m not sure where the BBQ sauce is everywhere else in the stadium, but I do know that there is a small keg of BBQ sauce on a little counter under the TVs when you come in from the Lefty O’Doul gate. That or you could probably ask for a little plastic container of BBQ sauce and the concession people wouldn’t mind.

Don't you it's gonna be all right. But not right now.

There’s BBQ sauce beside Cepda’s too. I usually slather my Baby Bull Sandwich with that

oh serial?

Thanks for tellin me. I was devastated because me and my friends have this tradition of goin to happy donuts after every winning game… last time we went to a winning game we had to walk to pier 39 and get those stupid mini donuts to uphold the post-win donut tradition…

Cha Cha Bowl is eternally my favorite. It’s a tad awkward with the white rice, but it’s still quite tasty. A filling meal that’s actually good for you at the ballpark? get out. I like the aguas frescas at Orlando’s BBQ as well. Sometimes it’s horchata, sometimes it’s watermelon stuff. It’s always good.

Garlic fries are always A+, as is the clam chowder in the breadbowl. Do they still do the fried calimari? I haven’t had that in about two seasons because I can never find it there. Also the Irish nachos at the pub on the third deck are good. Fish n Chips, also good. And what’s better than a churro after you’ve eaten all your food? Oh righ—a hot fudge Ghiradelli sundae.

A friend from LA came up for a game last year and told me she was disappointed with the food. Clearly, this is proof that Dodger fans are just beyond help.

Maybe she was disappointed that we didn’t have massive buffet in LF.

You mean the Giants aren’t contributing to the public health epidemic of obesity? Those bastards!

In all seriousness, what do they serve at the all you can eat section there? If it’s just standard fare like dogs and that, then why the hell would fans complain about the vast selection of food here? Or is it just that there’s not so much of it that your liver turns to foie gras by the seventh inning stretch?

I think it’s the basic stuff: soda, ice cream, nachos, dogs, burgers, maybe something else.

I think you’re right though, I’ll take quality over quantity. I can’t imagine eating at a buffet over the course of a 2.5 hour game.

by xanthan on May 15, 2008 7:36 AM PDT to parent up   0 recs

To me buffet eating=The Itis and feeling drowsy at a baseball game isn’t my idea of a pleasant evening. After eating a crapload of food I just want to nap. And since the Barrylounger is no longer in the clubhouse, I can’t sneak down there to nap in the chair.

I normally don’t like to sell out, even when offered big bucks to endorse a product. But I’ll make an exception here and say nice things about the chili dogs they sell at the bar on the concourse level about even with the 3rd base dugout. I think it’s about $8, but the load it up and make quite a meal. It’s not for the faint-of-stomach; downing a hot dog with chili and cheese and onions and jalpenos will likely cause some sort of gastronomical reaction, but it’s good stuff.

Sneaking food in?

Do the security people at the gates really care if you bring food in? I bring my own seed and water. I’ve seen people bring in those (soft) coolers that contained food and such.

For what it’s worth, the hot links, IMO, are fairly good too.

by sfgfan on May 15, 2008 8:58 AM PDT   0 recs

Sneaking?

I don’t remember ever hearing that you can’t bring food in, and I’ve certainly never been told that even as the security guards squeeze my sandwich.

by natteringnabob on May 15, 2008 9:04 AM PDT to parent up   0 recs

You can take any non-alcoholic beverage as long as it’s not in a can or glass bottle, and you can take any sort of food.

Don't you it's gonna be all right. But not right now.

Often I’ve gone over to Safeway to get a deli sammich and a bottle of Vitamin Water or something to bring into the ballpark. They don’t ban outside food. Yummy and cost-effective!

Since concessions are usually a pretty good revenue stream for ballclubs, I’m surprised they don’t ban outside foods, but I’m glad they don’t.

Eagerly awaiting Crazy Crab Bobblehead Night on 7/18.

by Kitspool on May 15, 2008 9:14 AM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Exactly. Maybe they allow it because Magowan was a big wheel with Safeway and there’s a store right by the ballpark.

Conversely I’ve yet to go to a minor league park that allows outside food inside. I get away with bringing snacks to SJ Muni when I’m working as press because they never check my bag. At other venues, they feed us.

There's good info right there

We are hoping for a few pilgrimages to SJ, Modesto, Stockton. so good to know that we need to eat in the car. We’ll die of heat stroke, of course, but at least we’ll be full as they cart us away..

by natteringnabob on May 15, 2008 12:48 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

SJ and Stockton has some good food just the same, worth the price I think. SJ Muni of course has Turkey Mike’s BBQ where you get a lot of food for your money. Stockton has beer batter fried aspargus

I know it's touristy

but the chowder/sourdough bowl is tasty, although you need to eat fast before the chowder hardens.

by natteringnabob on May 15, 2008 9:17 AM PDT   0 recs

When the chowder soaks into the bread and makes it all chewy…best.

Honestly, my wife and I usually just eat at Acme Chophouse. We’re not getting to very many games the last year or two because of our stupidly early workdays, so when we do go, we like to treat ourselves.

No, really, I have updated my blog this year: http://skaldheim.livejournal.com/tag/baseball

by Skaldheim on May 15, 2008 9:33 AM PDT   0 recs

TBH the Chophouse doesn’t impress me. I had some very mediocre duck gnocci there once. Bleh.

Garlic FRIES.

On the club level, the mozzarella/cherry tomato skewers, the strawberry shortcakes, and the pad thai.

But I mostly bring stuff from home. The best meal I ever had at Mays FIeld was one day game where nobody was in my row in the bleachers, and I had raspberries, goat cheese, brown rice, gingersnaps and an Izze soda, all costing less than one Sheboygan Brat.

Notgardo, I still love you -- but you're grounded. No Guitar Hero for a month, no Cheez-Its for two months, and NO BASEBALL! This hurts me as much as it hurts you.
