I love Barry. LOVE. But Barry was always presented as this surly bastard while Griffey was the smiling face of MLB, while playing in that bandbox Kingdome, hitting more HR than Bonds (during the 90s, at least), and Griffey was perceived as the better hitter as a result, when in fact that wasn’t true.
Then Griffey gets a pass for becoming the petulant, surly guy that eventually came out, while Bonds was continually demonized.
Griffey has also lost considerably more talent than Bonds has.
