..isn’t actually this good a hitter, but unlike most of this lineup he can probably produce at league average. That’s not worth the salary the Giants paid him, but he’s only a little overpriced. Not like the Bad Barry.

Nah, to the Giants credit they’re paying him like a great cog, when he’s a very good cog. A star would be getting A-Rod money. As for his hitting, his career OPS+ is 107, so let’s give him ‘slightly above-average.’ ‘Comfortably above-average’ has to be more than 7% above the league. 20%? A-Rod’s career OPS+ is 147.

No, but he has been comfortably above average in the years he’s been healthy. He wasn’t healthy in 2005/6, both of which dragged down his career OPS+. Obviously they count and you can’t ignore them, but you do have to admit that in 2004, 2007 and so far this year, he’s been “comfortably” above average.

It’s one thing to be anti-Giants because you hate Barry Bonds (and every story he wrote thru 2007 had an anti-Bonds snipe in it). But to write something as stupid as that is just sad. I’m sure the Giants have been begging for Omar’s offense to return… regardless of how bad Bocock blew. (sarcasm)

It’s not “the rules”, it’s MLB’s decision to sign a contract with Fox. Fox wanted it, MLB decided to sign on the dotted line in return for whatever compensation they get.

Better add Sanchez cos I don’t think that’s enough.
"While conservatives tell you 'leave things alone and no one will lose,' and liberals tell you 'interfere a lot and no one will lose,' baseball says 'someone will lose.' Not only says it - but insists upon it! ... Democracy is lovely, but baseball's more mature." BVCE supports SF Dugout and Manny Burriss.

If...
Timmy finishes with 20 wins and a sub 2 ERA on a team that should lose 90 or more games it will be very very hard not to give him the Cy.

With this team, it’s the 20 wins that will be the problem

By ESPN’s math, he was on pace for 18 wins coming into today. It’ll be hard to hold that pace, though.

the enchanter
will probably lag behind Webb and Peavy. As former winners they’ll benefit from stupid voters, that feel better about voting for the same guy over and over.
