But the Dodgers are evil. Usually I just take this rivalry stuff as a joke, but that is absolutely incredible and ridiculous.

Assuming this is true, which looks pretty likely from that post, what the hell is wrong with these people and this organization? The team I root for might suck (Bengie Molina's 60-HR pace notwithstanding), but at least I don't support that.

Comments? Vomiting? Any idea what they could possibly be thinking? Comments about how I'm incredibly self-righteous and the Giants do that too and so it's not that bad (it will still be that bad)?

Not too surprised

The new ownership group in LA is about revenue plain and simple. McCourt grew up wealthy and doesn't know fuck all about what it's like to be a regular fan. Sadly, having said this about the hated Dodgers, our management doesn't give a shit about us either, see the 2008 Giants for proof of that. At least the Dodger's greedy management can run a farm system.

kinda bugs me.

I think the Giants brass cares. I really think they do. They don't blow up rosters or auction off talent every couple of years. They built us a beautiful ballpark, constantly resigned an upopular hero and a great player many times and generally have had winning at heart. Ticket prices are exorbitant, as is the cost of food, but at no point in time has the management of this team really struck me as not giving a shit. Look, we can't field a great team every single year, especially after some of the dumbass decisions the management has made recently. It's unfortunate that we can't develop position players and that we have an airhead for a GM. However, no actions on the part of the management indicate to me that they aren't trying to provide quality entertainment for loyal fans.

it's really rather shallow to just look at this wretch of a team and dismiss it because the Giants ownership just doesn't care about us.

Why is Rowand overpaid? Because people like gamers. People like Baron Hustle vonWallsmashstein.

Management cares.

I sure wish that Ort Cloud would form a solid sphere to enter into this team's orbit.

I have a friend who grew up in LA and is a lifelong Dodgers fan (hey, we all have our faults). He's constantly emailing me about his disgust and disillusionment with the McCourt ownership regime, how the guy's even worse than when Fox owned the team. The fish rots from the head, apparently.

before the marketing guys happened upon this as a revenue stream. I wouldn't be surprised if this started happening in yards all across the country. Sick, twisted, wrong, but inevitable.

Absolutely. I don't necessarily see Magowan and co. doing crap like that. I think they truly believe baseball is for the fans, regardless of ticket price or crappy product on the field. I don't imagine Pete being a leader in this kind of atrocity.

So if you can still afford a ticket, or work for a company that has season tickets, you still have a fair shake at getting autographs.

Horrible

but what do you expect? The Dodgers orgainzation has slipped from first class (under the O'Malleys) to crass cororation (FOX) to slime McCourt. He's managed to turn one of the classiest franches in sport into a punchline.
