Bumgarner to debut for Augusta tonight

Madison Bumgarner, the Giants 1st pick in last years draft(10th overall selection) will make his pro debut tonight, starting for the Augusta Greenjackets against the Grasshoppers of Greensboro. Nice opportunity to listen to Bumgarner's first start as well as youngsters Nick Noonan, and Charlie Culberson. Still no word on whether or not Angel Villalona will start or even play/dress tonight.

If the game gets played

Villalona is the starting 1B according to the box score.

what is the status on the game tonight?

by wilriv21 on Apr 5, 2008 5:28 PM PDT reply actions

thanks

Dollar beers, dollar dogs and some "Kung Fu". Did they say when the game may start?

by wilriv21 on Apr 5, 2008 5:34 PM PDT up reply actions

no

they haven't said when it will get started

by Cainer on Apr 5, 2008 5:36 PM PDT up reply actions

Laughter

That's what I could hear from the crowd after the PA guy announced the Giants/Brewers final score.

by Cainer on Apr 5, 2008 5:35 PM PDT reply actions

Well

They're playing " I can see clearly now" so maybe the rain has stopped.

by Cainer on Apr 5, 2008 5:43 PM PDT reply actions

I think we have crossed the line from fan to fanatic when on a Saturday evening we are listening on the internet to a Low A game waiting for the kids to arrive.

Why don't they ever have $1 beers at the yard? You know each time the Giants score for the next 10 minutes beers are a buck. How much could they lose?

by wilriv21 on Apr 5, 2008 5:48 PM PDT reply actions

42000 capacity crowd is a lot more free beer than a 10000 capacity crowd. Even if the Giants could draw around 10000 for some games, it's still the max capacity that would kill the idea.

You didn't read the fine print

It's after the Giants score. They'll barely ever have to do it.

Please excuse me

Please excuse me for passing some bum scoop as I was under the impression that Tim Alderson was starting Saturday. The Fresno game has been postponed. I doubled fact checked that.

I totally read the word tits

Which is weird, because I've barely been drinking tonight.

The night, however, is young.

6 runs through 3 IP, 6 K's is the bright spot I guess

You have to remember this was his professional debut, and he was probably all nerves going in. I bet his next start will be much better

AnVil went 1 for 3 with an RBI single in game one,
