Open Gameday Thread, 4/5

San Francisco @ Milwaukee

I'm scared that Jonathan Sanchez has a touch of Matt Kinneitis -- strikeout stuff, but every fourth pitch is absolutely hittable -- but I'm also pleased that he has the strikeout stuff to begin with.

already kicking myself that I didn't pick up Parra for a spot start on my fantasy team today ...

by Evan on Apr 5, 2008 10:11 AM PDT   0 recs

he looks really good

i mean, i know the Giants lineup would make Brett Tomko look like Bob Gibson, but still -- Parra's stuff looks sick.

i can understand your enthusiasm for your fantasy team

but it's been a long-standing point of loyalty that i never start pitchers that are going against my giants. It's kind of my small sacrifice for following such a piss-poor offense.

by sweetjuxtapose on Apr 5, 2008 10:13 AM PDT to parent up   0 recs

I used to do that, but I think the only way to get through this season is going to be reveling in the hopelessness.

Durham's key stats

Age: 36
Average: .125
Shoulder: Sore

Why is he playing?

Glass half full

Road game loses normally mean 8 instead of 9 innings for the pitching staff. The starters need to begin to carry the load:

Zito 5 innings
Cain 5.2
Lincecum 4
Sanchez 4

That is a heavy burden for the bullpen even though there has been an off day.
