Villalona at 240!

Augusta's roster has villalona at 6'3", 240 pounds

Scary part is, hes still only 17,I would not be surprised to see him in the high 200's by his 20th birthday, man..the kid is getting really big, way too fast.

He will start the season along with madison bumgarner, nick noonan and charlie culberson in augusta, should be quite exciting to follow

That's baby fat. I used to read the same thing about Lebron James when he was in high school.

Can Villalona dunk? I mean, how fat can a basketball player be if he possesses the requisite hops?

How can they let this happen?

How do you let your prized prospect balloon to 240 pounds when he's just 17? Add that to the Giants' sparkling record in developing position players and you'll see why I wish we'd trade AnVil to the A's with the understanding that we get him back when he's ready for the show.

Where is Anvil?

Why wasn't Anvil in todays lineup at Augusta? Is Dusty Baker managing there too?

I've been listening to the game and the anouncer never explained why Villa isn't playing. Noonan is 2 for 3 with a 2B. Bumgarner will make his first start on Saturday.

I feel a little weird criticizing a 17 year old for his weight. not that it would stop me if he got much heavier. the thing is, if the Giants list him at 240, he's probably 250 at least.

In all seriousness, some of these zomg fatties are studs who hit bombs, like Miggy Cabrera and Prince Fielder. They're sort of good, so I've heard.

I'll be worried if Angel shows up on that trainwreck of a program called I Eat 33000 Calories a Day, bedridden and covered in crumbs.

5'11", 270

A prince in a king's body.

That's a valid point, B. As big (read: Fatty McTubbs) that Prince is, he does well enough at first and on the bases, especially with the offense he provides. Seeing as Villalona is a few inches taller than Mr. Fielder, I'm not worried about his weight being in the 240-70 range. I'd actually be more worried if fell closer to 200 than 240.

by sfgiantsflgators on Apr 4, 2008 7:18 AM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

Hasn't Frank Thomas always been a huge guy in both stature and build too? Before he had all the injury problems he was one of the best hitters in the game. IIRC he's like 6'5" 270. So Angel goes to first base, boo freakin hoo. If he approaches the power hitting ability of other such large and in charge men, I'll be pleased.

Now that Prince is veg he'll probably lose some weight. Though he's a smart guy and will make proper changes in his diet to get the proteins he needs. At least, I have faith that he will. And if he doesn't I'll start sending black bean enchiladas to Miller Park because I need him to hit for power for my fantasy team.

Listing bodyweight is meaningless

But, looking at Angel's picture, up top, that 240 does not look like it's mostly muscle. Unfortunately, it looks like fat.

Frank Thomas was a football player at Auburn. A tight end IIRC.

Prince "favourite" food, is Boca Burgers. So he is probably aware of the need to get enough protein.
