Time to check on the Dodgers to see if they're losing.

by E Ticket on Apr 2, 2008 9:05 PM PDT up reply actions
Okay, so...
...if they started Lincecum, they might have only gotten 4 innings out of him before the rain delay.
Instead, they got four innings out of Valdez, Taschner, and Lincecum combined. If the game resumes the bullpen will need to pitch the last five.
No problem! Bring in the long relief guy! Meaning, the guy you just used in late-inning situations the last two nights...
Can this team do anything right? One single thing?

Jon Miller...
This has got to be the longest description of a dropped fly ball ever. It's been going for probably 3-4 minutes.
The Basil Fawlty Moderating Strategy:
"We could run a nice blog here if we didn't have all these members getting in the way."
Lincecum prepared before the game in for the start, cooled down over the first 3 innings, then warmed up in the 4th to relieve. He threw one inning (but a good number of pitches). He'll cool down again during the rain delay, and he should be done for the night.
But Bochy's in charge, so who knows.
They're going to save him for serving drinks and eats on the charter flight to Milwaukee

The Basil Fawlty Moderating Strategy:

You wonder if these idiots...
...running the Giants just sit around thinking, Gee whiz, how come we have so many bad things happen to us? We sign Matt Morris and somehow his career plummets. We sign Zito and doggone it he's not very good. We play all our stinky veterans and we get shutout. We don't start Lincecum, then we put him in AFTER it starts raining, and then there's a rain delay and it all went so wrong. We must be the unluckiest so-and-so's alive. Good thing we've got each other, right Sabes, right Boche good thing indeed!

If the Warriors lose themselves out of playoffs...
I will shit bricks. I need something good to watch to cancel out my fury the first few weeks of baseball season.
The Sharks
The Sharks are indeed red hot. Even with some key players injured or resting, they continue winning. Saw my first game this season live last night. It was my last chance in the regular season unless I wanted to travel.
I only travel when I play basketball.
Cheech
I'm just hoping Cheechoo isn't too hurt from that cheap shot. He's supposed to play tomorrow, so we'll see how it goes. He just can't seem to catch a break with his health, and the second he gets healthy someone tries to hurt him. Really shitty.

They honestly could not have handled this worse. If they start Timmy, they get 4 innings and the pen can go the rest. If they stay with the pen one more inning, they are ready now to bring in Timmy until the 8th or 9th.

Clearly
Clearly they misjudged the rain situation. Or they may have felt that they had a chance to plate a run or two before the rain hit and possibly win the game in five innings or so. The one thing now is that they might be able to bring Tim back say on Saturday.
That could leave them with a rotation that has Tim followed by Zito, followed by Cain, which might not be all bad. That would also leave Jonathan Sanchez available for some relief work tonight or over the weekend, since he wouldn't be needed until next Tuesday.
I mean think about it though. You're not even done with your first series and already you have to scratch your head trying to unfuck your pitching staff. I love it. Its really funny.

Kruk was not defending the decision. He went as far as to say that if Lincecum comes up with a "stiff arm" in the next few days, there will be some serious questioning. Only then did he point out the unusual aspects of Lincecum's regimen.
But -- this decision is totally inconsistent with the way the Giants babied this guy at the end of last year and over the winter. So were they wrong then or wrong now?
Or both?
Yeah, Velez actually looked good there. It's just frustrating in light of the fact that Lincecum gave up the previous run on a perfectly placed pop fly.
I know these breaks are supposed to go both ways, but it feels like they haven't gone our way in about five years.

Remember when Santiago came back for his final season as a Giant?
He just decided he wasn't going to block balls in the dirt anymore. I'm not saying Molina is dogging it, but his skillz don't seem to be what they were even last year.

Don't know how true that is though
