Beat LA
Probably going to be a wet one tonight...
I'm guessing there'll be an hour, two hour rain delay. Hopefully we can get in 4-5 innings of baseball and then let timmy off the hook for coming back out.
The Basil Fawlty Moderating Strategy:
"We could run a nice blog here if we didn't have all these members getting in the way."
Am I the only one who thought that Loney's slide was dirty yesterday and deserving of a 96mph heater aimed at his ass??
Randy Messenger: "Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in!!"
Most runners slide over the bag with their feet whereas Loney seemed to slide sideways over the bag which is not the accepted way
I dunno...
It's not like he spiked him and he is supposed to be breaking up the double play, and if Durham is on the bag, he's fair game.
Also, I can't really complain at the moment if Velez is starting instead of Durham.
Don't you it's gonna be all right. But not right now.
Who is pitching tonight for the Bums?
Scheduled was Billingsley but GameDay shows Kuo on the mound. Kuo is a LHP.
Thank you Encarnacion for hitting a 3-run HR to beat the DBacks tonight. And Pedro Feliz broke up a no-hitter.
man, this lineup still sucks balls
lewis needs to bat higher in the order. Richie needs to bat 7th if he's batting at all
Ahhhhh Jon Miller...
Much better than J.T.
The Basil Fawlty Moderating Strategy:
"We could run a nice blog here if we didn't have all these members getting in the way."
I dunno.
FP was bad but JT is still just about as bad. At least JT doesn't keep on trying to reassure us he WAS A MAJOR LEAGUE PLAYER.
The Basil Fawlty Moderating Strategy:
"We could run a nice blog here if we didn't have all these members getting in the way."
Billingsley wanted no part of the Giants lineup

Might not be a bad idea.
Get a reliever in there, let him warm up and pitch for 3 innings, probably all the game will go before rain and then put the starter in to try and finish it.
The Basil Fawlty Moderating Strategy:
"We could run a nice blog here if we didn't have all these members getting in the way."
Maybe not now..
But in the 4th inning when he comes in to "relieve" for 6 innings then it's just like a start.
The Basil Fawlty Moderating Strategy:

So..
Who wants to bet that Torre made the decision to start a "reliever" a few hours ago and then Bochy saw that Torre did it and he changed his mind too.

Eugeniooooooo!!!!
I still don't really understand why they have relievers pitching
I've seen rain delays before but usually the starter still starts. This game started on time. Can someone explain this to me?
Well what would you rather have...
Lincecum pitch for 2 innings and then the game rained out, unavailable to pitch tomorrow then? Or Valdez pitch for 2 innings, Lincecum comes in after the rain delay or have the ability for Lincecum to come back in after the rain delay? It does make sense. And you don't want Timmy to pitch 2 innings and then get warmed back up after 1.5-2 hours.
The Basil Fawlty Moderating Strategy:
"We could run a nice blog here if we didn't have all these members getting in the way."
Okay
So it's an expected rain delay that they're hedging it against. I didn't catch that on the mlb.tv feed. I thought it just stopped raining or something. Got it. Thanks.

At least he recovered..
From his forearm muscle strain.

Won't be half as weird..
When lincecum goes 4 innings and is pitching in the 8th with only 75-80 pitches

uh, Tim
don't throw the changeup there again.
That's only going to work once
feliz gone, team still bad
Stupid to bring him in to relieve.
Bochy should have either started or set up another day to pitch him.

When will this stop?
When are you going to stop stepping deeper and deeper into it, Walrus? I'm reading this with 20/20 hindsight, and it appears you are rivaling Stevie Wonder.
ok that's better

Is that why he's on K's swinging?

Never stand up the ump.
I'll expect a few calls to fall The Giant's way now.
The Basil Fawlty Moderating Strategy:

Jeez..
The Giants are like watching one of the Cheese episodes of Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends.
You hate it, it's agonizingly suffering, and yet somehow you laugh and can't step away.

Yea agonizingly suffering makes no sense...

This game is so weird
Both teams didn't want to start their pitchers because it might rain but then they bring them in as relievers as it begins to lightly rain?
Huh?

if by "weird" you mean "poorly managed"

Bochy is such an entreprenuer..
He knows how to win with his players.

Well I for one think this is a great move...
bringing in Lincecum to relieve.
1 - With the rain it's essentially 1 or two inning game.
2 - Can anyone think of another way getting our starting pitchers a chance at a W?
Whether it works or not -we'll see

i bet the rain will score as many runs as the giants

Game called because of rain..
Dodgers win.
The Basil Fawlty Moderating Strategy:
"We could run a nice blog here if we didn't have all these members getting in the way."
So, uh, don't let Lincecum start because of the rain, just bring him in right as it really starts coming down? Tip top managing as always, Boch.

The management of the Giants...
....can't even read a freaking weather report competently.
2008: My previous assessment may have been overly optimistic.
I think everyone comes down
a little hard on bochy...I mean...it's hard to win at poker when the deck you (and only you) are pulling from is devoid of face cards
Billy Ripken is not a fuck face
Interesting analogy
But still...
Ah, it doesn't matter. Managers don't mean much in baseball.

I hope Bochy goes out to the mound and gets struck by lightning

Lincecum?
So, why did he not get the start - was it because of the weather or an "injury?"

Why can't we stop the game when the other team ties up the game?
Don't you it's gonna be all right. But not right now.

any idea if this game is going to continue?

great
so, lincecum avoids the start because of the weather but now has to deal with an hour rain delay to get readjusted. sounds like a great game plan!
