Personally I have to rebut what Grant said.
"While conservatives tell you 'leave things alone and no one will lose,' and liberals tell you 'interfere a lot and no one will lose,' baseball says 'someone will lose.' Zito's run support, or lack thereof
Kruk and Kuip are complaining about Zito’s 2.10 run support average. Yes, that’s not been good, but neither has Zito’s 5.61 ERA and 1.79 Whip, plus 12 walks to only 10 k’s. So, it’s fairly obvious that his 0-5 record is more due to Zito’s general support of the other team’s offense more than his own team’s lack of support for him.

Frankly, someone like Cain can really be talked about for lack of run support. He gives up a run, and we can’t even give him two.

for real though, it’s time. we can’t waste any more games on barry zito. i understand the contract. but when it comes down to it sabean MUST do what is good for the team. he has no choice to cut Zito. he’s untradeable and if not cut now, will lose every game this season. with the giants offense he has no chance simply because the best he can do is give up 3 or 4 runs in a 6 inning start, but in most cases . . . he just gets lit up. he’s done.

Let Zito throw until his arm falls off. it’d be good for the bullpen, good for the team.

So yeah
I was pretty loath to can on Zito early in the season because, well, this is his history. You know, minus the velocity problems. He’s always struggled with control and suckiness in April.
But this is beyond reasonably. That said, my good friend Pillowface came out if his room down the hall today yelling at me. He said he’s been fine this season so far. The kids have been playing. He’s even been able to stand watching Rich Aurilia play everyday simply because Bowker, Velez, Lewis, Bocock, and Burriss were getting so much time. He could go for some more Ort, but he’s not being too picky. Barry Zito, however, pisses him off.
So.

Realize this is not a playoff team
and every loss is one step closer to a #1 draft pick. Compete next year, this year is about getting youngsters experience and seeing who sticks and who does not stick and getting a high draft pick.
It’s fun watching them win, but losses aren’t really that bad. We expected this team to lose so why be upset when they meet expectations?

it’s time for Sabean and Bochy to make a comment on the Zito sitch. Even they can no longer act like it’s a normal slump. Dude isn’t even a number five at this point. And with Correia and Lowry on the DL, even the most remote of chances things might change is gone.

i think Bochy hit that point last week. After Zito’s 3.2ip performance against ARI:
””I’m just going to tell you, it was not a good night. It was not a good outing for him. I’ll leave it at that,” said Bochy, who refused to elaborate.”
Usually that guy can ramble on and on while toeing the company line…so when he’s lost faith, it’s not good. At one point on the radio, Snow was saying that it effects everyone in the clubhouse, you can’t help it.
