no it's just a stupid trend here

there is all sorts of wackiness, but degenerating into the wow forums is just stupid. it’s like waving a flag to say “hey look at me!!! i’m 13 years old!!!”

but i tend to be a grump anyway. it’s just bandwidth

The WoW forums are known for horrible posters

not the least of which is everyone clamoring to be FIRST!!! Especially to blue (moderator) posts.

It makes me sad every time I see it here because it is just so freaking useless and I don’t want to see these posts degenerate. I don’t post a lot but I almost always follow along. In terms of time here, I am an old-timer, but…again, not much in the way of posting. Lot of grumping, though.

Im not comparing the numbers

I’m comparing the talent. Griffey wasn’t healthy as much as Bonds to put up the numbers Bonds did. Griffey was very good on the bases and got walked plenty.

But the numbers show that Bonds contributed more for his teams

The walks weren’t even that close. Neither were the stolen bases. Barry once stole fifty bases with a decent success percentage.

Of course Griffey was immensely talented but even in his best years (his back to back 56 homer seasons) Bonds contributed more. Especially when you take into account Griffey hit in the Kingdome.

Only 949 games until the end of Zito's contract

Similar players with similar bodies, in their younger years

One might even conjecture that Griffey’s great HR numbers helped motivate Bonds to..ahem.. allegedly juice

by Moggeee on Apr 25, 2008 7:48 PM PDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I don't think that walks and stolen bases

are the determining factor in a player. They matter, but Griffey was a 5-tool player, Barry never was, he didn’t have the arm.

Like I said, I love Bonds

so, im not getting further into this arguement. If you think that there is no discussion, that Bonds was CLEARLY the better player, I think you are a little biased.

Here's how I rate Ken and Barry

power: even
hitting for average: even
drawing walks: Barry
fielding: even
speed/baserunning: Barry

I don’t really know much about Griffey’s arm. But I will take your word for it and give it to Griffey. That makes three evens, one (minor category) for Griffey and two (one minor category) for Barry.

I really think you are discounting the walks too much. Barry essentially did what Griffey did but he also walked more.

i know you guys are done

but Barry was faster. got more walks and steals earlier in his career. (ie before Griffey got hurt)

and OPS+. Griffey Jr had 2 over 169 (170 and 171). Bonds had 13. 6 over 200.

It was an absolute joke that Griffey was player of the decade in the 1990s. Barry was a bigger threat at the plate and on the bases.

I am saying that its not a “not even close” situation, it is close. To say its not is ridiculous. Again, Barry is my FAVORITE player ever, look at my screen name, but there is arguement.

Hm I saw the gal in the veil there. Wondering if it’s a bachelorette party scenario. I’m the maid of honor in a wedding in Tampa in August and the bride doesn’t want to go to a game. The Red Sox aren’t in town then. She won’t even let me throw her a bachelorette party. I’ve been the best man and now the maid of honor in the span of three years and I didn’t get to throw either of my best friends a dirty party. I am very disappointed. :/

Zito's starts

We really don’t have anyone much better in the minors ready to come up. Letting him pitch is the only way for him to right himself enough to get someone to take a portion of the back end of the contract when the youngsters are ready to climb the ladder.

No one better is one way to look at it.

I’d say at 0-5 with a fat ERA, we couldn’t do worse.

But I realize Sabean and Magowan have to get their own roasting asses out of the fire, so pitch Zito must.
