Around SBN: Four TCU Football Players Among 17 Arrested In Drug Ring

A Day Without MC

without access to mccovey chronicles all day, i had to find other ways to pass the time.

i thought, what if we can trade barry zito and aurelia for a plethora of unwanted contracts, say, giambi, mussina and pavano from the yankees. with buying out giambi's and pavano's option, we take on $50M in salary while unloading $115M. The Yankees get out of 3 bad contacts (but take on two) to make room for a youngster and fall under the salary limit, which saves them an additional $21M. We take a massive salary hit this year, but let all three go next year.

we end up not having to pay for zito after this season, and the yankees take on zito for a cost to them of $44M over 6 seasons. they also get aurelia to carry the bats or what not.

We could always play with including roberts or winn or some other crazy combo, but the point is it  would be a huge savings to the yankees, while basically swapping mussina for zito in their rotation, while unburdening us from a potentially franchise-wrecking contract. plus we get to boo pavano and watch giambi try to man first again, which would make the children laugh (and weep).

but the whole point is SEE WHERE OUR MINDS WANDER WITHOUT THE MCCOVEN AROUND!!! i had to sit around and come up with these crazy situations that would never happen as long as sabean is still around. PLUS it forced me to be productive at work today- let's not ever let that happen again.

Without McC, I actually concentrated on my work in class and got a lot done. What a crock.

Without McCC, I played Twilight Princess and watched Lust, Caution.

Doesn’t seem like much, somehow….

I was kinda disappointed with Lust, Caution. I thought it was good, but I guess was expecting more since it was so hyped up.

(I actually still have about 45 minutes left… which reveals just how much time I spent with TP today… so I’ll save my impressions for when I actually finish…)

Hmmm

I thought that it started really slow (like, an hour’s worth of too slowness), but once it started rolling it really rolled. The last hour in particular was really great. It’ll get a Netflix 4/5 stars from me.

I will say I was also a little disappointed, but only because it took so long to get going,

Is it worth the NC-17 rating? /perv

Meh

So far, not really. I’m almost two hours in and I just got to the first graphic sex scene (not too graphic even, just racy), and there’s only even been one graphic scene of violence.

Ah, n/m

Yup, this new scene seals it. NC-17 is the by the book call, here, boys and girls.

Super. I had heard the movie was kinda meh, but I really want to see it. Not just for the sex stuff. I love Tony Leung and Ang Lee so of course I was on board for this one.

Without McC, I actually worked.

Yup and just played Baseball Mogul as well. I’ve been able to build a great team in 2012-2014 but can’t seem to win it all. AnVil’s at 3rd, Manny’s on 2nd (108 SBs one year), rotation is anchored by Lincecum, Cain, Sosa, Bumgarner, and I’ve got two other home grown position players.

Never mind on Manny..

I just traded him and Merkin away (he’d gotten to be a subpar reliever by then) for a good reliever (so now I’ve got basically three closers in Soria, Wilson, and new guy. I had a 2B in the minors who was getting better than Manny anyways.

No.

Looks like that’s part of who I traded for him. actually 2015 his age 26 season is his first year starting. He’s got a .631 OPS in 250 ABs. I think I got the better deal, although this is the first year for my guy starting, he’s OPS’d .900 in AAA for three seasons.

Man

So I knew Star Trek XI was all about the Qionto/Pegg/Pine/Nimoy/Bana

But I had NO idea that John Cho was playing Sulu. And Tyler Perry has a role? And (ugh) Winona Ryder’s in there? And some guy named Christopher Doohan? Like, from the family Doohan???

Hot dang this cast is eclectic.

heh

Yeah, especially with how often these SB Nation sites are down.

But I am okay. I will be slightly lighter in about a week and a half. And I need crutches to get around. And I just threw up because of my medication. But other than that, I’m pretty okay. Thanks for the concern.

Doubtful

Why wouldn’t the Yanks just wait out this year and be rid of all those crappy contracts instead of taking on 6 years of a worse contract just to get rid of those 3 bad ones for 3/4 of a year? We’d have to take on a long-term burden of theirs for this to make sense.

well, here's what i was thinking

they are so far over the salary limit thingy they now have to pay 20% of each dollar over the limit- it comes out to almost $21.5M for them… so they are basically paying that amount for nothing in return. with the trade/Zito, they wouldn’t pay any money into that collection and getting a (they hope) average, end of the rotation guy for the equivalent of $44M for 6 years. That’s a former cy-young winner under 30 who has never been hurt. remember this team threw $21M for three years of Jaret Wright.

so, once again, hopeful thinking for a trade that won’t be made but if i bought into the team tomorrow (come on mega millions!) then i’m asking for it.

I wasn’t laying on the floor, curled up in the fetal position next to my laptop, contstantly hitting “refresh”, each time praying not to see the SB Nation logo guy with his finger in the air, wondering why my dog doesn’t get Bocock jokes…honest I wasn’t.

Actually, I spent time away from the computer and felt like Agatha in “Minoroty Report” seeing the real world for the first time. Imagine my surprise to learn my wife and son’s real names aren’t “Mrs. Goofus” and “Goofus Jr.”

I just wondered around the house, occasionally bumping into walls, then I would run back to the computer mumbleing…”maybe…maybe…mabye…DAMN IT!!! WILL YOU GET OFF YOUR ASS AND FIX THIS THIS, AL GORE!!!!” – repeat.

I was bored at work, though I was bored because I actually finished all my work. Playing with my Sneasel doll I keep on my desk got old fast. He is wearing a nametag that says Hello My Name is Eugenio. Trying to play my Nintendo DS at work is very hard to do when I’m supposed to look like I’m working.
