Great Quote from Chris Haft

"In an attempt to bolster the Giants' offense, Bochy said he'll likely start second baseman Ray Durham on Tuesday."

Classic.

Also, I just watched There Will Be Blood and thought to myself, what would life be like if Magowan resemebled Daniel Plainview in any way, shape, or form. And would a conversation between Magowan and Sabean go like this:

Magowan: Are you an angry man, Brian?
Sabean: About what?
Magowan: Are you envious? Do you get envious?
Sabean: I don't think so. No.
Magowan: I have a competition in me. I want no one else to succeed. I hate most people.
Sabean: That part of me is gone... working and not succeeding- all my failures has left me... I just don't... care.
Magowan: Well, you're fired.

I DRINK YOUR MILKSHAKE

I love that movie.

Good dialogue! Ray Durham and his 78 OPS+ are ready to boost some offenses!

Speaking of 2B, no way Ray turns that DP that Velez did last night. That ball would have shot past him by 5 feet.

six of one...

I’m no Durham apologist, but Velez’s OPS+ is currently 65. I expect that the kid could use a day here or there to re-assess his approach at the plate. If Durham wasn’t so terrible in the field, I’d actually like to see him in there more on the off chance that he could impress some other GM with his bat. Again, it seems to be a moot point; he looks horrendous in the field.

by BigO on Apr 22, 2008 11:27 AM PDT up reply actions

You’re right, Velez isn’t hitting either. But he’s FAST

Difference between Velez and Durham

Upside vs. Nursing home. Neither may work out over the long haul, but one is garunteed not to.

Velez is certainly struggling at the plate

But, he looks like he is learning every time he gets out there. I can promise he will be more careful trying to stretch a 2b into 3b from now on. Durham should keep playing while he is hot, and then be sat @ his first Ofer.

Durham is Moltres?! Sweet!

I’m not going to waste my Master Ball on him though.

Oh man, now that you say that, that probably was originally a picture of Ho-Oh. I didn’t even recognize it. I just googled “Phoenix” :(

It’s all good cos Ho-Oh is the Phoenix in Pokemans. Which means I never got why Moltres was there. Is he just a fire bird then with no cool mythical powers? And 4x weak to rock? Lame.

Moltres was definitely the worst of the original three Legendary Birds.

Articuno was a pretty permanent fixture in my original Pokemon Blue team.

Articuno is just awesome. He’s my favorite Pokeman ever. Even though I just complained about being 4x weak to rock. To hell with it! ARTICUNO 4 LYFE

Articuno FTW

Easily the best of the original three birds. I tend to gravitate toward Pokemon with unfortunate weaknesses but are absolute beasts. It’s me, my Tyranitar and Garchomp versus the world!

Go Articuno!

My original Blue team lived and died by Articuno.

My brother had Articuno on his Red team

And even though my Blue team was more balanced and levelled higher, I always had trouble with him because of it.

Wow Ray comes with 10% MORE RAMEN guys! Rich Aurilia can’t do that.

I was going to try to make it say 10% MORE DURHAM or something like that, but I couldn’t figure out how to make the text be at an angle so I gave up. Lazy.

select the layer with the text you want to rotate

and then go to Edit, Transform, Rotate. After you rotate it click the check mark to Apply the Transformation.

Nice to know they’re using their miscues efficiently; wouldn’t want to squander them all too early in the season.
