I'd never seen that before, but I remember hearing about Goodman's song, and how he died a few weeks before the Cubs won the NL East in 1984. There was a good story about it in the old Sport magazine. Apparently Keith Moreland autographed a ball for Goodman, and the sportswriter was supposed to give it to him before he died but forgot.

We have another 46 years or so before we reach that level of futility.

My brother bootlegged a Steve Goodman Show in Normal Il. sometime in the early 80's and that song was on the set. If you can find a live recording someplace it is even better because of all the Cubs fans screaming, especially at the Kieth Moreland bit.
