Around SBN: Are The Orioles Bad Or Unlucky With Their Young Pitching?

Open Gameday Thread, 4/19

San Francisco Giants at St. Louis Cardinals, Apr 19, 2008 10:10 AM PDT

I didn't watch last night's game, but I still have it recorded. Don't tell me how it turned out! I'm saving it for tonight -- I'll record today's game and it will be like a doubleheader. I can't wait!

Why is Bowker sitting?? If he really felt the need to play Aurilia, why not play him at third base?? I was very happy with Bochy’s lineup last night, and now I’m pissed off with him again. Today is all about appeasing his washed up veterans. I’m surprised Shawon Dunston and Eric Davis aren’t playing today.

Klesko had a mysterious loss of power a few years ago. I just don’t know why. It’s the same loss of power the Cardinal hitters are going to have a few years from now after they sign big FA contracts.

I started to write a comment about how much I like sleeping in on the weekends and waking up to baseball, but that lineup pretty much killed it all for me.

Oh well. Let’s go Tim.

During the pregame on KNBR, they played a highlight of Rowand hitting a two-run homer. But he has no homers as a Giant. Did they use something from the Cactus League, or did they REALLY cheat and use a homer he hit for the Phillies?

speaking of pitch counts...

if Bocock can’t hit, and i think we’re all in agreement here that he can’t, I’d at least like to see him become a pesky bat that is capable of fouling off AT LEAST 10 pitches per/ab, thereby frustrating pitchers into submission.

A punchless lineup should at least be able to beat up a pitcher mentally. It’s like one of those Survivor challenges where you have to stand in place the longest…if you know the guy up there’s just going to foul everything off with no intention of trying to get a basehit, someone’s going to ahve to give in.
