Streaking Into St. Louis

Some of our favorite Giants players are in the middle of streaks, how will they fare?

1.) Will Fred Lewis continue his hitting streak?

2.) Will John Bowker continue his awesomeness streak?

3.) Will Matt Cain continue his Matt Cain streak?

4.) Will Dan Ortmier continue his "Sitting on the bench w/ a .375 avg" streak?

5.) Will Rich Aurilia contine his "catching up to Bocock for teams most ineffective bat" streak?

6.) Will Bocock continue his unable to hit the ba... oh never mind, of course he will.

7.) Will Ray Durham continue his drawing the angst and disgust of the fans streak?

8.) Will Aaron Rowand continue his "At least one gritty, late inning, high leverage strike out per game" streak?

9.) Will Merkin Valdez continue his getting hit hard yet still never giving up runs streak?

10.) And lastly, will Bruce Bochy continue his making strange and utterly confusing lineup choices, pitching changes, and double switches streak?

When we emerge from the cess pool of St. Louis, some of these will be yes, and some will be no. Whoever guesses them all correctly wins a prize*

*and by prize, I mean nothing.

BTW

I take no responsibility for the accuracy of these streaks. I could be mis-remembering something.

by wilriv21 on Apr 18, 2008 1:32 PM PDT   0 recs

1) Yes
2) See above
3) Superwonderful
4) My boy will break out, ya hear!
5) No, but only so boch keeps playing him, then he’ll regress to suck
6) See #2
7) See #6
8) No. See optimism thread
9) Yes
10) Hamburger

Tentatively adopting Dan Ortmeier. And Boom Goes the Dynamite.

I dunno

But I’m in a sour mood because I just realized that we’ll face Peavy and Maddux at dogfood park next week. Asshole Friars switched Maddux and Young around, so now Cain will go against Maddux again. I know I’m getting ahead of myself, but, well…great.

by BigO on Apr 18, 2008 1:51 PM PDT   0 recs

other teams hit Maddux. He gave up 9 runs last night, 6 in the first inning. It doesn’t matter who we face, the pitchers pretty much know they have to pitch a shutout to get a no decision.

Other team

Perhaps you might make that other TEAM hit Greg, Mark. :) I’m not sure anyone had hit Greg much this season prior to last night.

Was it a coincidence that Matt Cain gave up nine runs the very same night Greg Maddux did? I think NOT! :)

by sharksrog on Apr 19, 2008 7:59 AM PDT to parent up   0 recs

The Dbacks are the only NL team with a winning record against Maddux. He’s 2-11 with a 5.49 ERA all-time against Arizona, and he’s only won at Chase Field once.

The guy’s still got it, the Dbacks have just always had his number. We have this sweet Maddux voodoo doll that always seems to work.

"I was tied to a chair and he had a baseball bat. Pissing him off was the smart thing to do."

We'll trade you

..your Maddox voodoo doll for our Brian Sabean voodoo doll. Ours doesn’t seem to work anyway.

I appreciate the offer,

but no thanks. I don’t think we want to do ANYTHING to interrupt Sabean’s reign over the Giants….

Granted, Maddux should be out of the game in another 2 years or so, but still.

Don't think, it could only hurt the ballclub.

To go streaking doesn’t one have to remove the merkin?

"While conservatives tell you 'leave things alone and no one will lose,' and liberals tell you 'interfere a lot and no one will lose,' baseball says 'someone will lose.' Not only says it - but insists upon it! ... Democracy is lovely, but baseball's more mature." BVCE supports SF Dugout and Manny Burriss.

or expose Bocock?

Or it could be to show off the merkin.

I guess it depends on how naked we want to be.

I was under the impression that streaking requires total nekkidness, but I may be wrong.

by tyrannoman on Apr 18, 2008 3:27 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

I also think this.

3) I hope not. Seeing him lose after pitching well every game isn’t very fun.

I believe

I believe #6, #7 and #10 will likely continue.

Merkin Valdez

Merkin Valdez has an impressive 14.3% line drive rate, so just how hard has he been hit this season? And although his strikeout rate is only average, his 1.25 GB/FB rate is a good one.

We take you for a little ride.

Then we dump you, and move on to the next FanPost.
