Owings meltdown imminent.

Right now I will subscribe to the theory that stealing a base is bad
Because, down 5, we more than just 1 or 2 runs.

All kudos go to
Natto, for breaking the Grant curse of today
No more shutout
"I was tied to a chair and he had a baseball bat. Pissing him off was the smart thing to do."
Natto starts the gameday thread
and the Giants get two runners past first.
COINCIDENCE????
Billy Hayes: Nine more big-league plate appearances than you.

Moves the pitcher's spot from 5th next inning...
...to 7th. That’s a pretty small advantage, though it might make the difference between being able to use Hennessey for 2 innings vs bringing in another reliever.

Eckstein is annoying because of all of the fluffy positive press attention that he gets. Plus, he sucks a whole lot more. Byrnes at least has some good baseball abilities, despite the bathtub crank. I’m probably splitting hairs.

the Giants are many things
overrated is not one of them
Billy Hayes: Nine more big-league plate appearances than you.
Well, if you consider them to be a mediocre team when they are actually mind bogglingly awful, I suppose that would be a case of them being overrated.

FunFact
I’m only following the game in passing, since I’m busy-ish with work, but I was flabbergasted enough with the Durham-Velez switch that I was wondering how helpful moving the pitcher back two spots in the lineup would be, really. The results….not very.

Shoulda gone South
To San Jose
Bowker and Ortmeier keep hope alive...
...Winn and Durham smother it with a pillow.

On the whole
Would you say this is a pro-Ray Durham group?
I can’t tell.
If you like things that are funny, perhaps you will enjoy ChatterBalks Dot Com?
Near the hole
I say push Ray in, especially if it’s deep
I don't like to be a hater
I was a fan of Aurilia, and glad to see him back.
I’ve always liked Durham, who only 2 years ago posted career numbers.
But man, they both look like they are running on fumes. Just…nothing left there.

You know Sabean is trying to move some of the vets and is willing to eat some money. He hopes he doesn’t have to eat the entire contract of each vet he is attempting to deal.
What a track record...And Value? Zero
It is astonishing how the wheels are fragmenting and flying off all these old models Sabean rolled in here lately with multi-million and -zillion dollar deals.
Roberts
Durham
Aurilia
Omar
Zito
And I’ll put Winn on that list eventually, too.
Can any MLB GM match this woeful record of futility???

1-0
1-0
0-1
0-1
0-1

Our job, after all, is to deal harshly with all optimism.
That stuff is like kudzu
You leave it unchecked, it’ll spread all over the place. Before you know it we’re all holding hands around a campfire singing Kumbaya.

Was at the game today....
...t’was horrible.
Even worse than the juggling taking place on the field were the douchebags on Blackberry’s sitting all around me.
I was one of the offending douchebags
but it is the Blackberry that allows me to get away for “an extended lunch”, so it is well worth the moniker.
Derin McMains had five fingers, but he only used three.
+1 for the title of this thread,
by the way.
