Did you know Randy Messenger was demoted?

That fat clown shouldn't have called the HR chase/Barry a freak show when he arrived. What? He was referring to the media? Screw you! I knew that. But why has he gotten multiple diaries for being demoted (no smart-ass comments that points out I created one is needed)?

How he was regarded:

Yes I can. I just did. And if you re-read what I wrote, you would understand why I could and did.

This guy is worse than getting nothing. He's a piece of shit. We have no shortage of pieces of shit. The concept is that when you have lots of pieces of shit, you do not solve your problems by exchanging one piece of shit for another piece of shit. The idea is to flush as many pieces of shit as you can down the toilet. Not keep bringing them onto the team.

There is nothing in his appearance, his stats, his statements, his past troubles with teammates to convince me that he is not exactly that--a piece of shit.

Now it may turn out somehow that this piece of shit can be upgraded to a mediocre middle reliever, but what in recent Giants history leads anybody other than Brian Sabaen and a few front office sycophants to believe that he is going to be anything other than what he has been since he got to MLB? Well? What is it that you know, that I don't that precludes me from referring to him as just one more piece of shit acquired by Brian Sabaen?

You have to click on the link and then watch the video. Then go back a few days and watch that video from the different diary. And then watch the one a few days before that and watch it from that diary. And then the one a few hours before that and watch it from that diary.

So I saw Stephen Chow's new movie, CJ7, yesterday at the Shattuck Cinemas in Berkeley. It was alright. Struggled to find a tone and was kind of hit and miss for the first half or so. Not nearly enough Chow for my tastes, but the alien robot dog was a lot of fun. Of the stateside releases, I put it behind both Shaolin Soccer and Kung Fu Hustle because it's not nearly as polished as either one, but it's still a good watch for Chow fans. Don't know if I'd recommend it for the uninitiated. But it was fun. And, at one point, deeply, deeply moving. Just too uneven to be on the same level as his other films.

Anyway, going from that, here's the hijack:

Favorite overseas stars or directors? UK counts, and I don't care if they've done American projects. Just looking for people who don't have the "Stateside Superstar" cred.

Chow's up there on my list. I'd be hard pressed not to say the Wright/Pegg/Frost holy trinity, though. Luckily they're still mostly cult figures out here otherwise I wouldn't be able to use them.

Although I haven't watched CJ7 yet, one of the problems I have with it is that Chow used to be able to sneeze out three movies a year like CJ7. I don't know why it took him so long to make the movie, but I guess with a bigger budget comes longer development times. I know I'll probably enjoy the movie, but I have low expectations. Jean-Pierre Jeunet consistently does great work. Takashi Miike has done a lot of good stuff. Guillermo del Toro doesn't count as "overseas" but I can't not include him when speaking of foreign cinema. He's one of my favorites of all time.

Speaking of new releases from Asian cinema, Park Chan Wook's new one is premiering at the Asian American Film Festival in SF. It's called I'm a Cyborg But That's OK. It's a love story set in a psych facility. If I didn't already make plans for Sunday I'd go.

Democracy is lovely but baseball is more mature. BVCE supports Manny Burriss and SF Dugout.
