Moises out for 4-6 Weeks, who can we give the Mets?

Moises Alou will never be healthy this year, so:
Mets need a right handed outfielder, who can we use in their organization?

Which of our outfields can we send them?

Rowand!
Nate Schierholtz cannot play third base. Nate Schierholtz cannot play third base. Steve Kline is pretty okay. Nate Schierholtz cannot play third base.

Re: Moises out for 4-6 Weeks
Randy Winn. The Mets were looking for a righty hitting outfielder even before Moises was hurt, because they wanted someone to platoon with Ryan Church. Now they're more desperate. I don't know if the Mets are on Randy's list of ten teams he can be traded to, but I would think he would be willing to go to a contender.

I came in here to say Randy Winn, but everybody else beat me to it.

Late to the party again :-(

Re: Moises out for 4-6 Weeks, who can we give the
Winn is a good fit. Fills in for Alou for 3 weeks, plus the other 6 times he'll get hurt, then Alou can DH in AL parks... The Mets couldn't have been looking for anything more than 350 AB's from him, anyway. Winn would get 500 AB's as a 4th OF, and could start next year. Dunno if he'd accept a trade to the Mets, and we might have to eat some salary.

It'd be nice to see Schierholtz getting regular playing time. We'd probably have to eat a little salary, and it's exactly the kind of deal that Sabean wouldn't make... but what would be a good return?

Learn to strategize like Sabean
The question was which outfield should we send to the Mets.

And I think that if we can lease a big enough truck, we should send center field, as long as triples alley goes along with it.

Roberts and Winn should be able to cover what's left.

Ground rules: We're calling rightfield "closed" this year.

Well...
A good number of guys haven't signed with a team yet and so can still be had for nothing. So I doubt the Mets would want to pick up, say, Dave Roberts just to fill a gap for a few weeks, when they could grab, say, Kenny Lofton. And that's even if they feel they need an extra body: they already have Endy Chavez and Brady Clark as backup outfielders. And by all accounts Randolph is not going to platoon Church.

I doubt the Mets have a sense of urgency to act. Of course, if their scouts have long been in love with Randy Winn's grizzled veteran grit, or Dan Ortmeier's flailing attempts to make contact...

The Mets don't have anything they can trade now though.

Re: Bonds is available...
I've been saying it for awhile - that the Mets would be a good place for Bonds as far as NL teams go. He would be on a winner with a real shot at the World Series. He wouldn't be expected to be THE MAN, as the offense over there is loaded. He could split time with Moises, but still make an impact. He would still get paid real money.

True, there are a lot of big personalities over there, like Pedro, Delgado and Beltran and a lot of real good players, like Reyes, Wright and Johan. However, Bonds could be just "one of the guys" again in a way that would probably make the game fun for him again. Hell, it would practically be an all-time/all-star team.

Yes, there would be a media circus, but I bet that the NY media wouldn't be as bad as everyone thinks, and would die down eventually as the team would be winning.

At least it's baseball season.

Plus, there's the exciting intrigue of "Can we get Barry and Moises healthy enough to play in the same lineup?" that we all love so much.
Hoping tk's recovery is faster than Raj going from first to third!

Re: Moises out for 4-6 Weeks, who can we give
Randy Winn makes the most sense b/c they need someone who can play all three OF spots.  Right now their four top outfielders are all injured.  Reyes will probably play 160 out of the 162 games and they still have Chavez so I doubt they would want Roberts.  Winn also would probably supplant Church as the starting RF anyways once they get healthy.
Ruben Gotay is a candidate to be traded as he is out of options and may not make it with the club.  He's young and a decent hitter but not the greatest with the glove.
Carlos Delgado is also injured.  They have no back up first baseman even if he was healthy, and he didn't have a good year last year.  Maybe Rich Aurilia could help them out?????

Do the Mets have any get-able prospects left after the Santana trade?  Otherwise I'd give them Winn, but I'd actually like to get something back for Randy, seeing as how he's not completely useless.

Y'all aren't thinking outside the box enough...
We sign Fatty Mando, and trade that sun'bitch to the Mets.  Think about it for a second here...Mando is still jobless and he's already came back and asked us to throw him a life line.  Not only that, but he's already made an appearance in the NYC...and from what I've heard, they loved the bastard about as much as we did.

Re: Moises out for 4-6 Weeks, who can we give the
As mentioned, Winn seems like the best fit, but it's never going to happen, as i don't think the mets would want someone with his contract, and Sabean would probably not eat any contract & want a good major league player in return.

Re: Moises out for 4-6 Weeks, who can we give the
Jon Heyman says the Mets would like a right-handed hitter who can play both first base and right field. What do you think they'd offer for Ortmeier?

Please rephrase the question
I remember the guy "playing" first base for us one year when we most definitely did not need him.
