C.C. Sabathia a Giant? (in 2009)
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/writers/jon_heyman/03/03/heyman.sabathia/1.html
SI.com's Jon Heyman believes C.C. Sabathia's three most likely landing spots next winter are the Yankees, Dodgers, and Giants, in that order.
While Sabathia/Tim Lincecum/Matt Cain would be nasty, I can't see the Giants doing another $100MM+ pitching contract. Then again, I didn't see them as a top suitor for Aaron Rowand this winter.
- How could the Giant's even be a top 10 contender for C.C next year when we have Zito's contract and absoulutely zero offense?? I'll have to check my ESPN insider account and see what they say about this.

He even has one with the Vallejo High School cheerleaders. That one's weird.

Re: C.C. Sabathia a Giant?
What I was wondering is what high school sam23 went to, because if he played against CC in high school, it must have been for a school with sports programs in the MEL. A school I most likely would have played soccer against. Which is why I'm curious.

Re: C.C. Sabathia a Giant?
And I went to Hogan. Bethel is for the Re-Jects! I think every HS in the VCUSD graduates at Vallejo High because they have that nifty Corbus Field to do it on.
And I did play Vintage quite a few times. In my Junior year when we played them, because Hogan soccer had been so bad for so long, when they only beat us 2-1 their coach made them run sprints as a punishment. It was kind of awesome, except we still lost so it was bittersweet.

Re: C.C. Sabathia a Giant?
It's probably evened out by now, though (and Hogan has gone waaay downhill), and I know plans are to make Hogan a middle school eventually so things could get very interesting in the VCUSD in the coming years.
The MEL was a good league. Hogan dominated Badminton! Kind of sucked at everything else. I think it changed because there were new schools coming in, like Rodriguez, that needed a league for their sports and the MEL was already too big to bring in new schools.

Zito may not have the performance to justify his dollars, but in terms of health he's as good an investment as a team could make

Love to have him here, but we have bigger fish to fry (bad pun).
However, if the 49ers are willing to go halves with us, then maybe CC can do some DT time over at Candlestick during the off-season.

Re: C.C. Sabathia a Giant? (in 2009)
Like signing Zito for 126 million made sense, even though the rotation was our strong point, and that's stupid money to give anyone. And signing Aaron Rowand, even though we had 30 CF's. Oh, and re-signing Vizquel, with an automatically vesting option... sorry, my point was about Jon Heyman, not Brian Sabean.

Re: C.C. Sabathia a Giant? (in 2009)
From Magowan's perspective, which always involves filling the seats, having at least three pitchers worth seeing every five days may be more cost-effective than banking everything on a cancerous $18 million/yr. power hitter.
