Open Gameday Thread, 3/27
It's finally here: The game that season ticket holders can't get rid of. This is also the first opportunity for partisans to mingle with partisans in Gameday Threads. You can test it out by going to Lookout Landing and doing the following:

Thought Roberts would bat leadoff and play LF vs RHPs. This line-up should have a little more army to it - left, right, left, right to balance out
Hey!
That's not your cape! That's my cape! I've been looking everywhere for it!

I've seen Dickey get rocked in Sacramento.
The Rivercats just waited him out, the knuckleball doesn't hit the strike zone much, and the fastball is BP.
feliz gone, team still bad
the gold glove second baseman
So say the Seattle broadcasters about Durham. Has Ray ever won a gold glove at second?
Ray Durham is probably one of the worst defensive second basemen of the last ten years.
feliz gone, team still bad
maybe it was a slip. has he had any gold records?
Bengie Molina: stretching doubles into singles since 1998.

This would be a good idea, if they had a gameday thread going. Alas, the first opportunity will have to wait.
Huh?
I wonder what I was on then...

Feliz
Doesn't have a single walk this entire exhibition season.
Randy Messenger: "Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in!!"
like last season?
when his batting avg was higher than his obp??
Bengie Molina: stretching doubles into singles since 1998.
are singles overrated?
he doesn't get many of those, either.
when you walk once every 20 at-bats, and you don't make up for it by, say, hitting OVER .253, or slugging over .420, you are not a good hitter. Randy Winn had more extra base hits. Feliz doesn't even have much power. It's just that 20 of his warning-track shots get lucky each year. His numbers will be bloated by that park and people will try to make silly "he's not that bad a hitter" arguments.

This was a few days ago:
Bochy added that Correia should make his next scheduled start, most likely March 29 at Oakland.

So I went to Lookout Landing , they're winning over there.

Dougie Jr
sounds a lot better and more engaging on AM radio than he sounds on MLB Gameday audio.
The Giants themselves are sounding about the same, however.
Jon Miller will do that to you.

Yes. No disrespect to the likes of Rocky Koplik, but just by sitting in the booth with Jon Miller anyone's conversation becomes more interesting.
But all I really meant was the sound of his voice. I'm surprised, even compared with the relatively low fidelity of AM radio, at just how much life something like WMA compression at lower bitrates can suck out of the sound of the human voice.
Of course he's chosen to launch into a protracted monologue for the whole time I've been writing this. Breathe, Doug. Pace yourself.
I gots video!
Normally I'm blacked out - what gives?
I will not argue with success...as long as I get to see Cain regain control.

It all LOOKS the same...
The stadium looks the same, the players are all wearing the right colors: I just feel so dirty for having to watch this on FSN Northwest....
"Branca throws..."
The Cy Young..
Clearly will come from the NL West. The Giants' .027 OPS against him will rocket his stats down.

I like this whole idea. I'm seriously going to have to ponder whether I want a personalized entry in the star registry or a Giants' run for my birthday this year.
both trivial and worthless, and forgotten within days. i don't think you get a certificate for your Giants run. You have to pay half of Ray-Ray's contract for that.

I like Ort. Bocock doesn't bother me for the one week band-aid. Castillo, Aurillia, Kline , Duhram et al. That bothers me.
If the Giants aren't going to be good until 2010, then don't waste my time with people who won't be in the league then.

I got called away to proofread something my wife is writing. Clearly I missed something unusual. Gameday says, "Ichiro Suzuki lines out sharply to shortstop Brian Bocock. Yuniesky Betancourt scores."
So, wtf?
Bockock threw to first to try to get the runner off the bag there. While everybody was looking at him being safe, Betancourt skipped home.

I remember that play! It was against the then-Expos, in '03 I think. The Montreal guys complain after Neifi is called safe, and Frank Robinson comes out of the dugout to tell his own players they screwed up.

and a mother to set-up the batting-tee.

Well that was disappointing...
Things to take away:
-Castillo is good enough thank you very much.
-Cain's great grandfather must have slapped a gypsy or something the way his luck is going.
-Bocock, good for double entendres, not so much for other stuff.
-It is fun to make the chugging noise of a train when Molina is running the basses.
-Holy shit Velez is fast.
Don't you it's gonna be all right. But not right now.
