A rant to end them all..

This is probably the truest representation of the majority of Giants fans' mindset this season.

Fantastically written and says basically everything I have to say about the BS with wiping any and all traces of Bonds clean from the ballpark, as well as the circle jerks that Magowan and friends participate in.

However does this mean OBM is looking for a new writer...?

Democracy is lovely but baseball is more mature. BVCE supports Manny Burriss and SF Dugout.

What's the problem with taking down all the Bonds stuff? Bonds isn't on the team anymore, it makes no sense to plaster his face on the left field wall. Frosting the park with 756 banners makes about as much sense as keeping around all the allstar regalia. Unless they're tearing up those memorial plaques on sidewalks behind right field (are they?) I don't see the problem.

They're taking down the BONDS AARON RUTH sign. That I just cannot abide by.

So which of Bonds, Aaron, and Ruth are on the team?

A "Road to 135" counter OTOH, would be entirely appropriate.
1899 Spiders: 134
1962 Mets: 120
2003 Tigers: 119
1816 A's: 117
2008 Giants: ???

Your comments remind me of a political truism. If some people hate you, you can still win. But if you're a laughingstock, you have no chance.

what's the best way to get our complaints to the front office? i'm trying to find a number i can call. i want to call and ask for sabean or mcgowan. i'm thinking of using a fake name; i've went with kyle stratford before. i dont wanna go all war protest on them... but i dont think the fans are getting their point across.

the bay area papers/writers = totally useless.

good rant though!

Which the Giants will immediately try to market as part of the "ballpark experience".

Make sure it's gritty poop, though.

Giants management are half-assed in everything

except their commitment to move on from the Bonds era.

Only 972 games until the end of Zito's contract.

Oh, also

As much as I hate the villifying of Bonds, I get annoyed at the sanctifying of Bonds as well. His hard work and sacrifice were to benefit him and only him. He doesn't care about us or Giants management one bit. He didn't do what he did so well for us. He did it for him.

I don't hold it against him. I just don't like it when people act like he did it all for us and for Giants management.

Only 972 games until the end of Zito's contract.

Yeah , really.

Look at all the different teams he jumped to since 1993.

Of course.

He loves you.

HE'S A BALLPLAYER. He did his job, and not in the Benitez sense - and he did it better than anyone ever has.
The team (in terms of wins) and the franchise (in terms of dollars) and the fans (in terms of entertainiment) all benefited greatly by his presence. Who cares what his motivations were?

For the Giants management to profit off of him, and kick him to the curb is just wrong.

by zenbitz on Mar 28, 2008 10:22 AM PDT up reply actions

Why?

Giants management profited off of him. But he didn't do it for free. He got plenty out of the relationship. It's not like Peter McGowen was running a sweat shop.

Look, I agree that tearing everything down that has anything to do with Bonds is horrible. But, I don't need to read about St. Bonds "sacrificing" for the Giants. Any sacrificing he did was for himself.

And to try and be as plain as possible, I don't hold this against him. I never expected him to do what he did for me or the Giants. He did what he did for him. I am okay with this. What I get annoyed at is people who try to pretend that he did do it all for us.

.maybe not for you...

Now I am crying

I'm the only fan that Barry didn't sacrifice for. How horrible to be me.

sums it up for me.

Rooting for the Giants right now is like rooting for the New York Knicks; you love the franchise, but hate the idiots in charge.

Bonds stands alone.

I wish to lodge a complaint. This rant definitely did not end them all.
