Holm as our backup catcher?
Now that GRod has been sent down and Eliezer Alfonso resides in Suckville (AT LEAST WHEN HE ISN'T PLAYING WINTERBALL) Can we please see Holm as our backup catcher? He seems to block balls pretty well and he has shown occasional power in the minors. Does anyone know if he is effective in throwing out runners? Holm for backup!! Cmon Bochy!!!

I've been hoping for the same thing. I've been pulling for him since last year when he completely outplayed Todd Jennings at AA and put up his second solid year in a row at a tough hitters park.
I can't offer any info on his actual catching abilities though, I saw him a bit when I was in Zona and he looked good enough to be a back up, blocked a couple pitches in the dirt, seemed to have nice agility.
All in all though I wish we still had Knoedler, kid had catch and throw ability, would have been a perfect backup.
Holm
I'd rather have Alfonzo. He's had a bad spring, big deal. Holm is pushing 30 himself. What's the definition of a "kid" with this team?? Someone who hasn't played in the majors previously?? There's a reason the guy is as old as he is and he was in AA ball.

Holm
I live very close to Norwich, CT and attended a lot of Defenders games last season. I decided to join this site to hopefully learn more about some of the guys that will be playing for the Defenders this season.
Anyway, Holm is a solid receiver. Nothing special, but he gets the job done. His arm is average. He could be a decent backup for you guys, but don't expect a whole lot from him.
