And Ryan Rohlinger brought to the big league spring training. Good for him

Rohlinger...
is being showcased for a trade, I'll betcha. Just a hunch, but remember where you heard it first, kids!

Plan when he gets traded...
1. delete this post
2. delete lefty's post
3. Post that I had the hunch
...
5. Profit!
(Isn't that how it goes?

So that's what's been happening to all my posts.
I was wondering why all my best comments kept coming up with WalrusMan's name attached to them... and why he was making all my profit.
Mystery solved.

this
is actually decent news. It's better for Lewis to at least try and hold down some semblance of a spot without us having to gift him away.
I sure wish that Ort Cloud would form a solid sphere to enter into this team's orbit.

It's also better
For Nate, still a young player, to actually be somewhere that he will get useful at bats. Or any at bats. This is great news, as far as I'm concerned. As long as the ML roster is as screwed up as it is, at least the team isn't totally screwing it's one legit high level hitting prospect by burying him 6 men deep in a 5 man depth chart.

Not all bad
Over the winter Nate began doing what we had been telling him here he needed to do in order to become a good rather than just an above-average hitter -- have the patience to get more pitches he can drive. So playing every day in Fresno where he can indeed continue his work on this actually seems to me to be a good idea. Let him have a monster half season at Fresno, and then when the Giants trade Randy Winn at the deadline for a couple more young guys, Nate can step into at least a platoon in right.
Nate has done a FABULOUS job of cutting down his strikeouts the past two seasons. Unfortunately that newfound contact doesn't always result in hits -- particularly long ones. Right now I see Nate as a near-.300 hitter with a poor OBP and somewhat modest power.
erk
More likely, the Giants will trade for a third baseman such as Brandon Inge, Joe Crede or Wes Helms - Sabean said he has engaged in conversations about third basemen over the past two days - or go with some combination of Frandsen and Velez.
I really hope the former doesn't happen.

On the other hand...
Frandsen + Velez = Felez; Felez ~ Feliz
And speaking alphanumerically (or anyway, that sounds like a cool way to say "using numbers and letters), since the difference between Feliz and Felez is an i and an e, and i has a greater alphanumeric value than e (8 and 5, respectively), it stands to reason that Feliz > Felez.
In which case... I'd rather not see either one happen.
(Note: I'd actually like to see the second one. Not because it will be enjoyable, but because it will encompass the idea of "team with no future" in a much less glaring way)

Thanks for explaining what the squiggly means. I make it a point to avoid math whenever possible so the squiggly confused me.

Why?
Why move your best defensive right fielder (aside from Aaron Rowand, who is now a fixture in center field) to first base?
Wait...
Should I not be taking Goofus seriously, either? Because I just left an angry note on his door about Randy Winn, and you're making me think that might have been unwarranted.

Loving the new sig line....
2008 Giants: A steaming pile of scrap!
My adopted son Matt Downs. Not rising as fast as Bocock.
Schierholtz is ready for an everyday shot in the bigs, but not if that means throwing away Lewis. I'd love to see LF platoon of Lewis/Davis, CF Rowand, and RF Schierholtz . Hopefully soon.
Matt Cain, cleanup hitter or starting pitcher?

This just in..
From BigO. According to the Merc this isn't that bad. He was sent down 10 days in advance of opening day rosters being turned in. That way, he can be added to the roster if someone gets traded. So maybe there's a Roberts/Winn trade on the horizon. I wouldn't mind him getting the starts in RF or platooning in LF with Davis.

Well, Baggarly actually says it's in case there's an injury. So either they are just really cautious (and realistic) about their old OFers, or there is something brewing. It does seem a bit odd to offer the rationale "in case of injury" up from out of nowhere, what with the power of self-fulfilling prophecy and all...
One big reason this happened now:
If Nate is needed to come back up, whether due to an injury or a trade that cuts the outfield short, he'll have spent the minimum required time in the minors to be called up for Opening Day.
