Open Gameday Thread, 3/17
Giants v. Rockies. Matt Palmer gets the start. I always thought that Matt Palmer's specialty was the palmball, but now I just realized I made that up because of his name. That's like something a five-year-old would do.

And Boom Goes the Dynamite
Did I hear correctly?
"Benjie Molina has always been one of the finest defensive catchers around" !!! Nothing like knowledgeable Rockies announcers.
But that was a nice throw to second...
When Raj gets on base...
he's he real deal.

Velez
Man, he's hiting .321. Throw him in there at third. Selfishly though, I just want to see him when I go opening night.
And Boom Goes the Dynamite
I don't know, No One with a funky open hitting stance like that should never bat anywhere but leadoff (if they're fast and can hit) or eigth (if they can't hit)

Hello small-ball!
Two runs on a walk, sacrifice, two singles and two steals. That's pretty much exactly the way this stuff is supposed to work.
Now if only they could manage that 3 times per game, we'd have an offense...
2008: My previous assessment may have been overly optimistic.
Once every other game isn't enough grit for you?

Matt Palmer > Barry Zito
Not that that's saying all that much.
That's all I can stands, I can't stands no more!
Yes, our opening day starter is...
...some guy named "I cost 45 times as much as Matt Palmer".

Je zite
Tu zites
Il zite

I don't know French, but I do know "Voulez-vous ziter avec moi."
It's what a guy says to his agent when he plays out his option year.
No?
Oui
Je n'ai pas envie.
(I think that's "Do not want" in French. My grammar is pretty terrible in the language)

I'm too simple to remember how to say it more than one way.
Je ne le veux pas.
I looked up Steve Kline in the dictionary. He wasn't there. If he was, it would have said "pretty okay"

Excusez-moi; il faut que j'ai un autre lanceur.

You know, we have already discussed the french subjunctive in this thread
I believe you mean "il faut que j'aie"
Yes, I had to look it up.

Q'est q' c'est le fuck?
What - EVRRRRR.
Now back to your ballgame , already being broadcast in English.

But if it's in English, then we'll have to know what's going on.
In a Giants game.
I think you see the problem here.

Ah yes, the subjunctive
I'm with the Baroness, that third year French was tres difficile.

avec cette équipe...
..il faut que je vomis(vomais/vomaient/?)

Hrmm, could work
"With this awesome year I'm having, I am totally going to zito some team next winter..."
2008: My previous assessment may have been overly optimistic.
So, we recently witnessed the passing of Sabean into common parlance as a generic noun, and now we have Zito as a verb.
Next up: Taschner as a comparative adjective (e.g. that pitch was Taschner than the last one) or Lowry as an adverb (e.g. he's rehabbing Lowry in Fresno)?
Rowand a preposition?
As in, "He totally ran right rowand that brick wall."

More grammar useage
VERB: "to Frandsen"... "I'd been in line for that promotion for 18 months, and then all of a sudden they just Frandsened me and gave it to someone else."
ADJECTIVE: "Lefebvre" ... "Of all the President's appointments, the totally unqualified UN Ambassador was the most Lefebvre."
Your 2011 SF Giants: the 2008 Augusta Greenjackets!
I wonder what ziter is in the literary past tense
Ils ont zité.
Je zitais.
Nous ziterons
Elle ziterait.
Il faut que vous zitiez.
Zite!
I don't remember how to do the subjunctive, but that's what wikipedia says.
I looked up Steve Kline in the dictionary. He wasn't there. If he was, it would have said "pretty okay"
Oh lord I think I blocked subjunctive tense out of my mind. French III was pretty tramautic with the onslaught of verb tenses we had to learn. But it looks right to me.

Yeah, Kinney
Kinney pitched in Fresno last year but signed with Seibu Lions this offseason. Palmer was also in Fresno last year. He's two years younger than Kinney but looks to have about the same long term prospects.
2008: My previous assessment may have been overly optimistic.
Matt Palmer
Has now pitched more scoreless innings than the entirety of the starting rotation, combined...
palmer definitely pitched for norwich and fresno in 06
but he wasnt with us in 07
i must be losing my mind
cuz i dont remember him pitching last season.....god, its awful getting old
He wasn't?
The Internet does not agree with you.

What did he do now?

Gameday has seemed really slow all spring
Maybe it just needs to intensify its offseason workouts.

Who else...
Wants to see Velez play an entire game? He's the only position player that is remotely interesting this spring.

My adopted son Matt Downs. He's sort of like Bill Mueller without the "two flap" helmet.
He must have had something good to say. . .

Tim Lincecum's Outing
Thanks to Joe Ritzo, radio announcer for the San Jose Giants, here is how Tim Lincecum did today pitching for San Jose against the Stockton Ports (A's):
Roger,
I'm not in Scottsdale right now, but here are Lincecum's numbers from today's start:
5 innings
5 hits
2 runs
1 BB
8 SO
1 HBP
85 pitches (only three times did he go to a 3-ball count)
Hope that helps.
