Ha, I can post something way up here.

Marte?
I saw a story in the ESPN spring blog about Andy Marte. Apparently, he might be available because they don't have space for him and he's out of options. What about trading a minor prospect for Marte? This is a guy who used to be a huge prospect himself. Might be worth a short.
Marte
1. Not a veteran
2. Not a gamer
3. Not proven
He therefore has no future with the giants.
Flossing a dead horse
Which of course means he will be signed to a 3 year, no trade contract worth 283 trillion Euros

1b is much more important
I like the inhouse candidates at 3b rather than 1b. Either Frandsen, Velez, Leone or Aurilia could hold down the fort at the hot corner. Sabean needs to concentrate his efforts more on 1b than 3b.
1b?
Anyone not named Sabean can fill 1B on a bad team. Adding Pujols at 1B moves 2008 from 70-wins-by-the-skin-of-our-teeth to .500-with-honor. I don't see the point of worrying about the least-demanding defensive position on the field.
3B demands a little on defense, but it's still a corner position, and I don't see any of those four bats managing league-average performance. Frandsen really needs to play a creditable 2B to be valuable, Velez probably doesn't even hit enough for SS, and the other two? Sheesh.
That doesn't mean I'd go after Crede, who more-or-less equates to Pedro Feliz with a bad back, or Inge, who's a tiny bit better, but even more overpriced. It does mean that if there is a real 3B prospect on offer, or someone like Marte is available for peanuts, I'd pull the trigger.
Stupid game today..
Why the 5:00 start time for us Central people? That means I won't be able to listen to it for very long before work.

Sigh...
I don't trust Brian Sabean to make a move that is good for this team or this organization. Best we lock him up in a closet until his contract is up.

Trying to get through the A's announcers..
I might have to just turn the game off though.
Coming to you from the Land of Many Beers
Who's this..
Ishikah-wah fella up?
Man I not only appriciate the quality of Jon/Flem/Kruk/Kuip but the professionalism to actually try and pronounce the names correctly.
Coming to you from the Land of Many Beers
A's Announcers..
Just about making fun of the Giants for signing Zito. At least they're saying one thing that makes sense
Coming to you from the Land of Many Beers
Well I guess it wasn't really Schierholtz's fault.
There was a pop up down the RF line and Nate didn't see it and Velez/Leone had no chance to get there.
Coming to you from the Land of Many Beers
I have to say...
...baseball on FM radio sounds pretty darned good.
Other than that, no comment at this time.
Sir Sidney got signed...
Wow never thought I'd see the day.
Coming to you from the Land of Many Beers
Well, he's only making the minimum.
Zito's making the big bucks because he can do it with the best of them.
Coming to you from the Land of Many Beers
For anyone who hasn't visited it yet, here's the blog of our minor-league right hander now in the game, Garret Broshuis.
Howie is stoked.
I looked up Steve Kline in the dictionary. He wasn't there. If he was, it would have said "pretty okay"
Is that who it was?
I dunno I usually tend to skip over his posts.

8-1
Hmm...if the Giants don't score next time they're up I think I'm giving up.
Coming to you from the Land of Many Beers
wait.. you hadn't already?
Having expectations for this season is a good way to feel bad 162 times this year. I'm sticking to a simple plan of cursing Brian Sabean and enjoying Cain and Lincecum.
Giving up on the game that is.
The season? It didn't end already?
Coming to you from the Land of Many Beers
OK I lied.
I'm sticking around but not really listening to the game. I'm more making fun of the A's announcers if anything.
Coming to you from the Land of Many Beers
Well at least
we only play Oakland like 6 times a year.
You deserve to be struck out, when your first name's a verb.
Cain is a rock
Velez is a jock.
Omar wears a frock.
Bochy we can mock.
I like this new game, Wil.
But on the other hand
Bocock, lucky, fits no jock.
So much for people hatin' on America

Any other name changes around here?

Me!
I'm the poster formally (un)known as coockyman.
You deserve to be struck out, when your first name's a verb.
That solves a deep and disturbing mystery
which had us all scratching our heads, Cokceymaan.
1st pitch swinging!!!
It's an organizational philosophical black hole.
Julio is tourist in San Francisco?
I'll tell the truth.
That page is missing from the company policy manual.
Oh. And it's more than that page. It turns out it disappeared with the rest of the book.
In 11 innings played so far against the Giants, the A's scored 33 runs.
You deserve to be struck out, when your first name's a verb.
In Nature, we call that
perfectly balanced and predictable.
It's amazing
how sprinkling on a little baking soda can freshen up a bunch of cadavers
And in our newest tradition
we can leave our pride behind
Some good news
Sanchez said his mechanical tweak - he keeps his hands at chest level instead of dropping them to his hip - helps his arm from dragging behind his body. As a result, he stays on top of his pitches and keeps the same arm speed whether throwing a fastball or change-up. He also registered a staff-high six strikeouts, mostly on change-ups, to build off his solid outing last week in Tucson
If he is throwing fast ball and change-up at same arm speed and mix in another offspeed pitch - watch out!
This is especially gratifying to WilRiv
He has been stumping for two years to get Sanchez out of the pen and into the mindset and mechanics of a starting pitcher.
Cain, Lincecum and Sanchez makes for a solid Big Three. Sabean then could trade Zito is he so desired :-)
Zito, at almost any price, high or low,
is no desired throughout the league.
Now if he can just learn
to change his own diaper
While Walrus waits thirstily..
The supply in the Land of Many Beers becomes more depleted.

Nice job A's broadcaster
Pointing out that Reggie Sanders blocked Linden's advancement to the big leagues in Linden's very first professional season, 2002.
Oh, how it all would have been so different.
Yeah. Linden would have been ushered out of baseball a lot earlier.
I'm down with our plan to lull the A's into breaking camp with Linden on the 25-man. That's some serious industrial sabotage right there, letting him go three for three.
damn
I so called linden going 4-4 today, but didn't bother to comment on it. It was almost too predictable though, the guy is such an egomaniac you knew he would come out against us and be determined to make us look bad for FINALLY giving up on him.
I talked to Pat Misch earlier..
He agreed with me. Now I'm off to encourage Zito.

This game
No matter how bad the Oakland A's are, they always look the 1989 edition when they're playing us.
Randy Messenger: Rxmeister never liked him anyway
That's because right now...
We're the 1985 edition of the Giants.
Coming to you from the Land of Many Beers
The '85 Giants were loaded by comparison
This outfit looks more like a coed softball team
Crede and Inge
Crede with his usual hitless self so far today, and Inge with a DNP after trying to show the Giants he can play shortstop yesterday
Randy Messenger: Rxmeister never liked him anyway
Pitchers for the 2nd game.
Zito, Hennessey, Kline, Valdez are scheduled.
Coming to you from the Land of Many Beers
Hennessey
has a chance to make history.
Zito gets NO outs, and Hennessey, as a reliever, gets three outs in the first inning.
I'm sure it's happened before
somewhere...
I hope at least.
Coming to you from the Land of Many Beers
Maybe Valdez will make history, then
as the Giants yank three consecutive pitchers out in the first inning before an out is recorded.
Suggestions for Gameday Hijack..
If the game gets out of hand after a few outs.

In San Jose they had Minicozzi and Maroul playing some 3b, Leone played some 3b in Fresno. Have heard they may have either Denker or Velez playing some 3b. So either San Jose or Norwich sounds about right. If he gets off to good start could move fast?
If Velez isn't with the big club I'll be upset.

On a team with Manny Burriss, Eugenio, and others who are very fast runners, I really want to see Mike McBryde run. I just can't think of how this little white dude is faster than those guys.

Unfortunately he must be horrible at reading pitchers, because his SB% has been suspect.

Great news for the Caribbean
The Puerto Rican winter baseball league will resume its season in October, more than a year after it announced a shutdown because of financial problems.
The famed league, which has starred Roberto Clemente, Ivan Rodriguez and Juan Gonzalez, will be revived because several municipalities have promised to increase funds and suspend stadium rents in some cases, president Jose Andreu Garcia said Friday.

Merkin
Looked really solid. Shook of the error and the HBP. He looks like he has a nice plane on that mid 90's fastball. I am not sure if that changeup can fool ML hitters though. It would be nice to have him produce as many have suggested and have a Joe Nathan year.
Someone get Damon Minor's agent on the phone stat!
