Re: Uhh, Hijack?
I love my enemy as though it were my friend. I have come to realize that I only hold any shred of respect for one other team in the NL West, and that's the team I love to hate.
I even root for them when we're out of it, hoping they'll get all the way to the World Series and lose in four games. Then, Giants fans would be pissed that they got there in the first place, but would also have some vindication in knowing they were swept.
And I still crave a Dodgers-Giants NLCS because the crowds would be AMAZINGLY INTENSE. But that won't happen as long as they're both trading spots between 4th and 5th in the standings. (You watch, Giants will have at least six more wins. Maybe even ten. Maybe.)
In the end it's all a diabolical scheme to provide fire under the asses of Giants management and Bay Area sports writers. It'll work, see. Nyah, see, nyah.
But yeah, I've never been to Berkeley.

Re: Uhh, Hijack?
Game that I owned: Final Fantasy III for SNES. I has a chainsaw.
My roommate in college was obsessed with chocobo breeding. He got better.
But I'm not really an RPG guy; I'm a Nintendo franchise fanboy. Mario/Zelda/Metroid usually adds up to a worthy game each year, and that's all I have time for.

Re: Uhh, Hijack?
In March the Wii is getting its first real RPG (Baroque, an Atlus title also coming out on PS2) and I'm WTFBBQing over it. Nintendo System + RPG = WTFBBQ for me right now.
I'm also on the last stage of Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door for Gamecube (backward compatability ftw), which is an RPG style game though I have a hard time calling it a real RPG.
And even though it'll be a PS3 title and I don't have one of those, I'm already geeked out about FFXIII. I'm really starting to "get" this whole FF thing. I'm not finishing FFIII until I stop playing Pokemon, though. Which is tough because, technically, you never stop playing Pokemon....
And in about a month I'm going to break down and buy Etrian Odyssey for the DS for like $60 bucks from an Amazon seller, because that game looks cool.
I'd love to play more classic/old school RPGs. RPGs are fun. Why didn't I realize this sooner?!!??!

When I first got the game, I spent 12 hours battling Red Slime to build up experience and gold.
The next day I discovered Game Genie.

Re: Uhh, Hijack?
There was a code we put in once that made Mario look like his hands were glued together in front of him. This perception was supported by the fact that he also couldn't climb vines. That was a lame code.
There was another code that would turn Mario gray. He couldn't use items, but he was permanently invincible anyway so it worked out fine. Or it would have, except he couldn't use pipes. So we could only play like the first 3 levels.
Come to think of it, I don't think that any code we made up actually had a positive effect....

I also LOVED Xenogears when I was a teenie. I don't know how I'd feel about it if I played it again now, but damn was that game awesome when I was 15.

On computers,
For fun and addictive hack-n-slash, the the Might and Magic series, 1-9, also, the Bard's Tale series, 1-3, and the Eye of Beholder series, 1-3.
Not exactly classic, but Neverwinter Nights is also great, because the toolset has resulted in a HUGE amount of user created content.

Re: Mock the 1986 Dodgers Here
As for video games I played a lot of Final Fantasy III. I had a Setzer/Celes thing going on. I never owned the game or the system, so I played it at my boyfriend's all the time.
Hmm, I wonder if I can get that for the Wii. I heard it was actually FF7 thhough? Wouldn't want to buy the wrong one.

Re: Mock the 1986 Dodgers Here
FFIII (also known as Not Previously Available in America) is available on the DS with slick 3D graphics.
The two are different games. The DS one is actually FFIII, like the real chronological Japanese release FFIII. Unless every single review I read of the thing is wrong.

But I have the itch now. Final Fantasy has caught me in its web and I must systematically play every game over the next however long it takes me to do that.

Re: Mock the 1986 Dodgers Here
Squaresoft got wise with Final Fantasy VII, and released it with the same name all over the world. Since then, they have published all the FF games with the original games in America. But still, to some people, 6 = 3.
