Re: Fantasy League Question
No Country For Old Men sounds like it a good 2008 Giants Marketing slogan.

Re: Fantasy League Question
You should be made Giants Director of Marketing for that comment alone.

Re: Fantasy League Question
It also sounds vaguely hypocritical.

Baron actually beat everybody to it, just with a slight variation.

Re: Fantasy League Question
I guess that decides the whole question of who would play Bochy in a movie about the Giants. Tommy Lee's wrinkly face and gut are a perfect fit.

Re: Fantasy League Question
You can do keeper leagues on Yahoo for free. You can do just about any league you want on Yahoo, for free. The league commissioner just needs to lay down the rules for all teams in the league to follow.

I'm in a keeper league at Yahoo. We submit our keepers about a week before the draft to the commissioner, posted on a seperate message board so the whole league can see who's been kept where. Keepers for us are any four players from the previous year's roster. Then when we draft we place all keepers not our own on the exclude list, while everyone else is up for grabs.

Since I'm broke as a mofo I stick with Yahoo. I do this stuff for fun.

Re: Fantasy League Question
so yahoo has a keeper league format?  or you guys essentially create a keeper league by submitting those keepers and drafting them in the first 4 rounds?

In my league we just submit our keepers and draft them in the first four rounds, yes.

Re: Fantasy League Question
I don't know if I'm oversimplifying it or just because I'm used to it, but it is really the easiest way I can think to do it.

Of course, there are consequences when people have to autodraft and don't set their keepers properly. Like the guy who messed up our draft today in the second round. Second round! He was on autopick so when he got Schilling later we all voted his punishment was to keep him for the entire season.

Don't F with us, man.

Re: Fantasy League Question
Come on, guys, a vote for Nader is just like a vote for Atonement! You're just stealing votes from more deserving candidates. Just stick to party lines if you don't want Keira Knightly to keep thinking we like her.

Haven't seen There Will be Blood...
but No Country was a pretty good movie despite the odd ending. It seemed like it was trying to be too artsy to me, but the movie was so solid for the first hour and 45 minutes that it's deserving of the nomination, I think.

Re: Haven't seen There Will be Blood...
The ending ruined that movie. It shouldn't get Best Picture because they allowed that ending in the movie.
Why isn't Sabean held accountable for leading the Giants into many years of mediocrity???

Re: Haven't seen There Will be Blood...
I'm going to say it again. You wake up early, have a complimentary continental breakfast, proceed to a full body morning massage followed by a refreshing swim. Then you meet some good friends at Disneyland and spend the day reminiscing and riding the Matterhorn. You all leave together to get some drinks and hit the town. It starts to get late so you head back to your hotel at the spa and find your girlfriend has decided to show up to surprise you. You guys go back to the room and have sex, like, five times. Then, as you're trying to go to sleep you catch a bad ass case of diarrhea and spend the next hour on the toilet with the anal equivalent of a continuous dry heave and massive cramping.

Next morning your buddy calls and you tell him you had a shitty day.

Bullshit! You had a shitty end of your day. You had a shitty hour! Your day was awesome! I'd trade Noah Lowry and Henry Sosa for a day like that!

So you thought 5 minutes of the movie sucked. Big deal. It didn't change anything about the rest of the movie, and you apparently loved that part.

This is my analogy.

He is Vengeance. He is the Knight. He is Dave Righetti. PRAY TO HIM!

You know, rxmeister can give you something for that diarrhea and cramping.

Re: Haven't seen There Will be Blood...
Not to worry, man. The massage/swim/breakfast/matterhorn/drinks/sex was totally worth the impending diarrhea. I can't complain, really.
