San Jose Giants Fans?

Any local people fans of the San Jose Giants on this board? From what I have been told this is going to be a busy year down in the High A league at Municipal Stadium.
After winning the championship last year and the SF Big brother starting from scratch, the minors should be a very busy league this year. I myself plan to be  at a bunch of games.

Star-divide

I have reason another reason to be there as well. Green Light Jerky debuts, at SJ Municipal Stadium opening night April 10th 2008, as the Offical Jerky of your San Jose Giants (maybe the SF Giants one day).
Maybe I'll see you out there!

GO GIANTS OF ALL KINDS!

I'll be going to most of the Visalia Oaks games when the Giants come to town. Gotta love being a good 5 minutes from the park!

It's sort of an inside joke at this point (since the olive refinery's been out of business for 20 years, but back in the day that's what Lindsay, CA (home of Lindsay Olives) used to call itself. I think there's still a big olive billboard out on highway 65 that says that.

I'm a fan. I'll be going to a lot more SJ games when I'm living on SJSU's campus, a stone's throw from SJ Muni.

I'll bite, I guess. Does your jerky come in anything other than beef?

I live near San Bernardino, so I try to catch the SJ Giants when they are in town.  I'm also about a 30 min drive from Rancho Cucamonga, and about 1 hour from High Desert and Lake Elsinore.  I drove up to High Desert one time to see Merkin Valdez pitch. Probably wouldn't go that far unless it was to see something special, Angel Villalona, Madison Bumgarner, Tim Alderson, etc.

Personally, I find the association of "green" with anything meat related kind of off-putting. I can't even think about eating at a "Green Burrito" restaurant. If your meat is green, you've got a problem...

Its just a name and our jerky is not green.

I can't think of eating at Green Burrito, either, but I have eaten A LITERAL green burrito and I can tell you for a fact it's not offputting and it's completely natural. It's just a spinach tortilla (which is a great kind of tortilla), and if you want to go all out, some salso verde.

Re: San Jose Giants Fans?
I'm kinda reactionary when it comes to tortillas. There are two acceptable flavors of tortilla: flour, or corn.

I was served something in a spinach tortilla not that long ago, which was innocuous enough in taste, but had the food-coloring-green hue of some awful St Patrick's Day gimmick. I'm way too old to enjoy food that color.

Yeah, I made a similar comment a few hours ago where I said I was a little annoyed at first, but once it became clear that he was here to talk Giants first and sell second I had no problem with the selling at all. Except I said it in like 3 long paragraphs. But my internet crashed and I lost it.

The thing is, I'm pretty sure my internet wouldn't have crashed if I'd been eating jerky at the time.

Re: San Jose Giants Fans?
yeah, I'm glad you other guys brought it up because I hate it when I'm the only guy who gets offended by this stuff. When I saw the name of the diary I immediately assumed it had something to do with this guy having some insight on the roster of the team this year, and then I got a little pissed when I saw it was actually a shill for some food product. I'm actually going to be a little harder on this guy than you others are, because I did a quick search of his previous comments before this diary and almost all of them pertain to this food product he is selling. I didn't see any comments that would prove he actually follows the team. I'm not quite ready to launch a massive boycott of Green Light Jerky at this time, but I want the dude who started this diary to know he is being carefully watched.

I'd like to see some SJ games... just for the sunshine if nothing else in May/June.  What's the atmosphere of the crowd like?  Drunken thug?  Or tipsy yuppie?

As for the product, the important question for me is: with Klesko gone, who will be the official jerky of the San Francisco Giants?

Re: San Jose Giants Fans?
They set a record with 182,000 in attendance for the season.
The crowd ranges from 500 to 4000, it really depends on the team they are playing against.
The fans that come out are very family oriented. The players get surrogate families to stay with while they are playing here. I have not been to an actual game yet so I dont know first hand what its like, but the stadium is pretty cool. They just put in new seats and last year got a big HD video board.
The BBQ pit, is known as one of the best in the South Bay. Ill be tryin' the ribs, no doubt.

Thanks to both... I remember some very unflattering reports of the "picnic area" in Sac. a few years back that make me a bit leery of some of these operations.

I sure wish the AAA franchise was in SJ and not Purgatory.  There was a thread a while back fantasizing that the Grizzlies move to Reno, which would make for a much more interesting road trip a few times a year.
