The Cincinatti Reds visit AT&T Park the last weekend in April. Ken Griffey, Jr. is seven home runs away from 600 homers lifetime. Provided he's healthy and doesn't suffer some bizarre injury to keep him out of the Reds' lineup, he could possibly hit #600 right here.
The Reds play 14 home games and 12 away games before they come to San Francisco. That's plenty of time to hit six homers. The trick is making him wait until he reaches AT&T Park.
I bring this up because it would be really special to see another great hitter reach 600 in this city. Even though we'll need a few things to go exactly right to see it, it's exciting to think about.
Forgive me for not knowing, but did Mays hit #600 at home or on the road? Either way it would be special. To me, and to a lot of you, I'd think.
So I am going to this series come hell or high water. I hope to see you there.
