Holy renovations, Batman!
The SN redesign just ravaged Lake Merritt.
Jinkies.
I hate it. The threads are waaay messy looking, even if the underlying engine seems to be pretty well designed. Resist, Grant, resist! Be the holdout! Because we also hate CDs. And combustion engines. Just port the whole kit n' kaboodle over to the UseNet.

Re: Holy renovations, Batman!
Eh...
One of the things I really liked about this site was that it was basic. Very basic. You posted, we replied. We posted, we replied. We didn't post quick pictures and check our stocks on MCC.
Re: Eh...
- There will be real-time updated stats and box scores hosted on the site. Basic stats for now, but more stats once they're comfortable with the network.
- In addition to FanPosts (diaries), there will be things called FanShots for the noodles who like to post one-sentence diaries (FanPosts) or just a YouTube link.
- The comments will auto-refresh while you're in the thread. Tres cool. You can turn the option off, but it seems like a badass addition to the gameday threads.
- The open registration will encourage discussion.
And you so don't have any stocks. Don't try and act like you can buy and sell us.

One thing I'm liking..
I just hope it's not too overpowering on systems and internet connections.
And another thing, are we looking at this change soon? Or is this still a few weeks off?

Ask the Oakland A's
It's not the content changes that are the issue
But, I guess, form over function 11!!11!!.

I'm sure it will allow animations in the signatures.
Though, I'd rather follow the troops of the McCoven for consistency.

I can't define myself in a 20x20 pixel square. Even if it were an animated 20x20.

Re: Holy renovations, Batman!
"Diaries" makes no sense. This is a freaking sports site. I use verbs, adjectives, and crappy metaphors to swing from trees and grunt. Y'all can respond in kind, but you have to use...diaries? What in the hell are those? Are you commenting on a roster move or telling me about your crush at improv camp?
But once everyone gets used to diaries, it somehow makes sense. So much so that people get offended when they aren't called diaries.
All I care about is that I can schedule gameday threads well in advance. That, and I love being able to use one username across the whole network.
The downside is that it's going to be easier for trolling folk to wander over. The banning stick shall be fierce and merciless.

I suggest everyone go now to get their name reserved, even though it doesn't yet apply to this site.
I'm now the proud owner of the name "kenshin1"!
damn, i was going to take "kenshin1"

Re: Holy renovations, Batman!
Geeze, liking this less and less. I have some experience with a national network coming in with 'improvements' that just end up being changes. (Especially with these coming down the pipe late.)
Forgive me for being more than a little skeptical.

Re: Holy renovations, Batman!
It did work, but it still worries me. I don't post much on SN, but I do not want to have to go through new re-registrations (not to mention new screennames) when MCC and minorleagueball switch over.

You have BruteSentiment on the whole SB network now. Nobody else can have it.

And if, say, there are twelve Jakes, each Jake claims his own history, but the first Jake to sign up for an SBN site has dibs on the name "Jake."
Or something like that.

And I mean the first one to sign up for an SBN site in the pre-renovation past -- 2005 and on -- has dibs.

Opera is pretty cool ^_^
I was using it some when I had Linux installed on my desktop but I couldn't find any good ad-blockers for it. I liked the way it rendered web pages, nice and speedy.

I used a style sheet from here for improved ad blocking. I also found some nifty tweaks here for stuff like hiding the menu bar.

Hopefully the redesign is worth the 300 million McCovey Bucks price tag, although I'm pissed we taxpayers get stuck paying for the cost overruns.
Re: Holy renovations, Batman!
Because I already know all that crap.
Ava-what?
I mean, what if howtheyscored ends up with a really lame avatar or something? It could change everything.
I'm sure it'll all be fine, but I'm totally going to complain every step of the way and demand my money back.
