Giants offer Derrick Turnbow a non-guaranteed contract
Great low risk, high reward move if he accepts.

Andrew Baggerly has a new post up. Probably the most notable thing is his part on Sanchez. This made me laugh out loud at work:
“They have a table at the back with Xeroxes of all the news releases. The Chicago Cubs put one out to explain that they won’t be affected by Tribune Co.’s announcement that it’s filing for bankruptcy. I’m sure that’s a great comfort to the couple dozen Tribune Co. reporters in the room.”
but, of course, I love any jokes about the collapse of the mainstream media.

Mainstream media
I can’t comment in the context of sports but as a veteran of the mm no longer involved, I think the value and skills of the folks at the top tier are vastly under-rated by the blogosphere — the web would be a sorry sight indeed without papers like the NYTimes, WashPost, WSJ and yes, even, on occasion the Tribune’s offerings, to react to and build off of. That’s taking into account that the websites of those papers are largely supported by the print staff (often working extra hours for no extra pay). What’s happening to the industry is a disaster for citizenship, though it may take a while for that to become clear. Which is not to say that the industry’s management isn’t a big part of the problem.

I’d be cool with that. Can never hurt to add pitchers with decent stuff to the pen (though Turnbow obviously has a lot of issues)

These are the kind of transactions I like to see the Giants doing. Very low risk with some reward. If not else it helps to have some depth at AAA.

Another part of this Baggarly post that sounds somewhat promising:
"Everybody" is asking about Jonathan Sanchez, according to one Giants source.

It sounds like everyone’s interested in Sanchez for their scraps though.

From MLBTR
“Derrick Turnbow will throw for scouts in mid-January, so he probably won’t sign until then. The Pirates and Giants are among eight teams that have expressed interest.”
The bases were drunk, and I painted the black with my best yakker. But blue squeezed me, and I went full. I came back with my heater, but the stick flares one the other way and the chalk flies for two bases. Three earnies! Next thing I know, skipper hooks me and I'm sipping suds with the clubby.

He must have the crotch out, b/c is you have any balls you cannot fit them in those pants.

That’s how he can wear the tight pants. The balls all over his body.

Giants among Angels’ eyes trained to look at the crotch? All I saw was the cute puppy. I didn’t even see Tim there until I saw a human holding the dog. Then I was all, “oh there he is.”

I don’t even like tight pants. I agree it’s best to have room for your area to not feel like it’s wrapped in Saran wrap. I’m just amused that you’re so concerned about another man’s junk.

Agreed on the skinny pants, waaaay more worried about the support of a puppy mill...
…no matter how nice they try & make it look and sound, the sad reality is that there are too many unwanted dogs out there and to buy from a breeder like this demonstrates a lack of, well…you get it. offamysoapbox now, but Timmy’s off-field rating just dropped a notch in my book. And yes, I’m sure he’s bummed about that fall.

the website said they only have two litters a year…
But I thought the same. I’ve always kept strays and
pound puppies until I found a stray Great Dane.
Since then I bought a dane from a breeder and am
considering doing it again.

I know where you’re coming from. My BFF bought a purebred cat a few years ago after her oldest cat passed on and I went WTF at her for not adopting. This fall she adopted a purebred from a rescue (apparently, they have those for purebreds—who knew?) Personally, with the exception of two cats from one litter we had, I’ve always adopted. My oldest kitty is very ill and we’re going to have to put him down soon. When and if we decide to get another cat, we’re adopting from rescue.
But at the same time, raging against those who do adopt from a cattery or puppy mill really does no good. The people who do it don’t really want to listen to what you have to say.

Skinny pants are too confining.
My boys need to breathe. Sure sometimes they’re flipping and flopping, but they’re breathing.
