Winn extension?
The Giants are contemplating whether to give Winn an extension. A decision on the matter will be made when Sabean is close to finished building or set with next year’s team. I don't like this idea. Let him finish his contract and see if we can get a compensation pick when he signs elsewhere. Do you agree?

Winn's a good player
but the Giants don’t need to commit money to him going forward. My hope is they can find a team that can appreciate his defensive value and trade him

Winn’s agent went to the Giants’ and asked for an extension. Sabean said no, maybe later. What’s the problem here??

So wait, we’re NOT trading Sanchez for Cantu either?

Winn Extension
The Giants and fans alike seem to be so hesitant in signing CC because of what happened with Zito. Using that same principles, of concerning yourself more with your teams needs rather than value, we should really not resign Winn based on our current OF. With Rowand locked up for the next handfull of years we can’t afford another OF with no power. Resinging him would me 2/3rds of our OF would hit about 30 home runs. We need to have some pop. I say this knowing that winn has been our best hitter the past two years, we just need to have more power.

That same principle?
You mean “don’t throw tons of money at guys who aren’t likely to come close to earning it?”
