Giants to charge more for Lincecum games
Okay, they didn't exactly specify that, but come on.
This could wind up being an interesting way to shore up revenue, but I doubt people are going to like hearing that the games actually worth watching at the park will cost more money.
Then again, if the reverse is true and the crappy matchups are cheaper, then I've got no complaints. It's very much a "you get what you pay for" mentality.
Sorry if this had already been brought up...

dude your title is pure propaganda BS
which you completely made up. not only that, but they will only vary the price on a small fraction of upper-deck outfield seats. please.
Maybe this is actually a good thing
Especially if they pay us to watch the Giants play on the non-Caincecum days….

I think the Giants’ were one of just three teams to not raise their ticket prices last season. Give them a break. The offseason is young, but they’re working harder than any other team in baseball right now to improve their product. I’ll be happy to pay a few extra bucks if this team goes from a 90 loss team to a contender.

well...
the way the team has played lately, you’ll probably only see prices fall. The Giants would be taking over a scalper’s main function (and hopefully capturing their surplus). I imagine most scalped tickets went for below face value last season (at least the ones I scalped went for less). The variable prices are supposed to match demand, so if they increase more often than they decrease, then there is likely because we are fielding a competitive team and that’s not such a bad trade-off.
I’m all for the Giants experimenting with this. Particularly since they’ll be doing it with the weakest selling seats (view outfield probably), prices will probably only increase on sell-outs, while dropping for most games.
Finally, most of Tim’s games were paired with his strikeout discount. I probably went to more Lincecum starts because of that… $8 is cheaper than the cheap seats at the Coliseum.
zito
do they charge less for zito games?
i got to go to Zito’s first 3 starts last year and i wish i had gotten a discount
They should raise the price of beer for his starts....
god knows that’s what people need after watching a few innings pitched by him
Cool idea
this ‘dynamic pricing’, I think it’s worth checking out for the Giants. As for whether or not Lincecum days will cost more, that K special I think is going on next year too, so it’s probably not true. Now if it’s Lincecum pitching against the Dodgers in September and we almost have the division wrapped up, then I’d see a price hike for those few small sections in the 3rd deck in right field with the cool views of the bay bridge downtown and water
Sorry if this had already been brought up…
yes, it has already been brought up, and your analysis of it is utterly ridiculous. They are going to be varying the prices for the worst seats in the house for up to $2.00 a game. This is just a marketing strategy by the Giants in an attempt to sell seats they are having trouble selling, it’s like a store putting an item on sale to create the buzz of “wow, look at the deals to be had there!”
I thought..
The $2 a game was the day of only. So if there are tons of seats available still, then the prices would drop as the day goes on. If it’s a weekend game against the Dodgers that’s near sold out, they’d probably keep the prices steady. If it’s a midweek game against the Pirates and there are tons of seats left then they’d drop the prices.

Mike Hawk to pay more for Lincecum games….GLADLY
The bases were drunk, and I painted the black with my best yakker. But blue squeezed me, and I went full. I came back with my heater, but the stick flares one the other way and the chalk flies for two bases. Three earnies! Next thing I know, skipper hooks me and I'm sipping suds with the clubby.
You can kiss Mike Hawk.
