BUSTER SIGHTING
Buster rated as #19 on the top prospect list...I'm surprised to see so many recent draftees on the list...is that normal?

Alderson #10 MadBum #5
The bases were drunk, and I painted the black with my best yakker. But blue squeezed me, and I went full. I came back with my heater, but the stick flares one the other way and the chalk flies for two bases. Three earnies! Next thing I know, skipper hooks me and I'm sipping suds with the clubby.

I'd be surprised to see Alderson in the top 10
I’m guessing he was a close shave on making the list, maybe somewhere around 55th

I think he has to be on there.

...and, he's not on there
like I said, he is probably around 55th or so, which I think is pretty fair (and by the way, if we assume he is somewhere in that range, the Giants have 4 of the top 55 prospects in baseball, how great is that?)

The idea fact that Samardzija, Miller, and Adenhart are on this list and Alderson is a true sign of how stupid this list is.
I am not sure Alderson is top 10 material but I know he is better than those guys. Not to mention the fact that guys like Alonso, Hosmer, and Posey have hardly played and they are on the list. Stupid.

I’m thinking…
1. David Price
2. Matt Wieters
3. Travis Snider
4. Jason Heyward
5. Mad Bum
6. Colby Rasmus
7. Cam Maybin
8. Rick Porcello
9. Tim Alderson
10. Pedro Alvarez

That’s why I think Alderson should be on there, I can’t think of who else would be left off of that list

Neftali Feliz or Jhoulys Chacin were about the only other players I could think of instead of Alderson or Porcello that might be as deserving.

Maybe Pedro Alvarez as well.

I can’t think of the missing player, but there’s no way Alderson is a top-ten prospect. Cahill and Anderson and Parker and Hanson and some others are clearly better pitchers.

Oh yeah,Vitters. He seems like a stretch in the top ten as well, but it must be him.

It was a really good draft this year?

At the time everyone was saying it was a weak class. But they seem to say that every year.

Yeah they do that. I counted five 2008 draftees on the list. Hosmer being ranked was sort of a “buh?” to me since he had 11 pro at bats, but I know they heavily weigh ceiling for guys like him. Same with Matusz. Matusz should be great once he actually starts playing. But right now to me I just see them as big walking question marks.

Hosmer's
11 pro AB’s are just as meaningless as Posey’s 44 or Alonso’s 19, so I don’t really see the differnce.
..so allow me to present Tim Lincecum and Matt Cain as two sweet, sweet bottles of warming hooch.

wait
aren’t his 11 ABs exactly 4 times as meaningless as Posey’s 44?
