Around SBN: Ellenberger vs. Sanchez Heats Up, Hughes Talks Retirement

I finished the Giants team WAR projection this morning by adding in the pitchers and relievers.

You can find my spreadsheet, here.

I've got the Giants projected as a 82-83 win team, which frankly surprised me a little. Good offseason so far.

Yay! spreadsheets

We don't really have that much pitching depth. We don't really have that much pitching depth. FOR GOD SAKE, VERUCA, DON'T GO FAKE TRADING JONATHAN SANCHEZ. We don't really have that much pitching depth

Well done, xanthan

Things feel a little too good around here. I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop.

The 2008-2009 offseason is driving me sane!

nice... thanks for all the work

honestly, I’m surprised that Howry was evidently overpaid when I liked what we got him for. I wonder what that’s all about?

Psycho killer, qu'est-ce que c'est?

I kind of low-balled (that’s what she said) Howry. The Giants got a good deal with him, I think he’s a good bet to beat his FIP projection. Also, I’ve got him working at a leverage score of 1.0, if he’s setting up, or pitching in more late inning situations, it’ll probably be closer to 1.15-1.3

He’s worth the money he’s getting.

I have no reason to doubt your numbers

I just have a feeling that we are all going to end up hating this guy.

He is my early candidate for ’09 Whipping Boy.

Hopefully Frandsen wins the job outright in spring and we never hear from Velez again.

victim of a hilarious prank

Good stuff

Although I’m still pessimistic about the 80-win barrier

Aaron King is still my homeboy... iffy mechanics and all.
