Any info on him? He looks like a college reliever that got hurt, then pitched ok in the indie leagues, and was then signed by the Giants.

Supposedly has a fastball in the low to mid 90’s but is something of a headcase.
I think this quote from him on BA was funny:
Through it all, scouts have questioned his maturity and ability to stay on the field enough to bring his considerable talent to the fore consistently. ASU coach Pat Murphy has talked about how Jarvis needed direction, so much so that he wore a wristband with his daily schedule typed on it, much as a quarterback wears one with play calls on it.
Good quote on his stuff:
That much is true; with a fastball that sits in the low 90s in relief roles and an inconsistent but at times above-average breaking ball, Jarvis has the stuff to move through pro ball quickly, as well as above-average athleticism. But scouts have reasons to be concerned that he might bring some drama with him as well. For now, it appears the drama of his one-plus year at Arizona State is over.
Oh, and he was ruled ineligible for the rest of his season for some grading issue that resulted in an academic dishonesty ruling from the school.

Quite frankly, I’m shocked to read that an athlete might have been academically dishonest!

As House, M.D. might say....
It sounds a lot like ADD grumble grumble I hate people yum drugs no one knows I’m actually British.
But hey, the Giants actually have a track record of salvaging pitchers by pumping ’em full of Adderall.
Tyler Walker, my son, it's time you left the nest. No seriously. Go.
Agreed.
I think there’s a little too much what-have-you-done-for-me-lately in these rankings. Snyder struggled, but he struggled following a promotion. If he can’t refine and adapt this year, I’ll stick a fork with him, but until then he has the pedigree and track record to deserve to be on the list.

Yea, kind of crazy just how far Snyder has fallen due to 60 rough innings in AA. Prior to that, his numbers for the last few years were really impressive.
Fell in love with his low minor numbers and was salivating however was warned by Baron to not to get to close to Snyder because he may disappoint at higher levels. After his promotion to AA his ERA was about 6.66. Hoping it was a fluke ……
Yeah, but the thing is that he’s probably not that much different, in terms of stuff, than Pucetas, Martinez, and Tannger grouping.
Which might speak more to our inappropriate placement of Pucetas than anything related to Benjy.
Get the hell out the way Bengie, Pablito's hit the show!
Pucetas is horrifically misplaced. I assume people voted him that high for the awards he won, which mean little about how good of a prospect he actually is.

The other Sanchez
Hector Sanchez. Again. Because a successful switch-hitting slugger at catcher, even an 18-yr-old Dominican, is more intriguing than a successful 21-yr-old college relief pitcher in the NWL.
Sergio Romo: striking out professional hitters since 2005.
McBryde or Sanchez.??…..Flips Coin……..McBryde this time.

My adopted son Matt Downs . Utility Infielder with a Bat !
Casilla!
We don't really have that much pitching depth. We don't really have that much pitching depth. FOR GOD SAKE, VERUCA, DON'T GO FAKE TRADING JONATHAN SANCHEZ. We don't really have that much pitching depth
No more please
I don’t know who any of the remaining stiffs are. Does it even matter at this point? What does ranking someone past the top-15 prospects really do? I doubt we would get any trade value for Erik Surkamp for example. It’s not like the Clay Hensley days…

Plenty of people do know them though. And I don’t really think it’s about trade value, plenty of these guys could at least be back of the roster filler if not more.

I vote we keep going. There are still some pretty interesting prospects on the poll, and many people do know who they are. Ideally, it would be nice to generate more discussion about the prospects in the threads, but everyone (myself included) seems to just vote and leave. That works too, I guess.
(I voted for Quirarte, btw. The only thing I know about Casilla is that sickels likes him, never heard of him before that. I do like Sanchez, but decided to go with Quirarte because of his overall solid stats and scouting reports. He is much less risky than Sanchez, and I think he has a very good chance of contributing at the major league level. He may not be dominant, but he has few or no red flags that I can think of.)

Perdomo, Jarvis and Otero are not on the list.
Therefore my vote goes to the highest bidder. Or the best joke.
If God had intended us not to rosterbate, he would've made our arms shorter.
Padre renuente de Luis Perdomo, porque él es todo el que se deja hasta junio.
Shit, what happened to Perdomo? He got lost somewhere between polls, sorry about that.

Andrew Baggarly took some time off from the links to give McCoven a shout out.
Also, I happened to notice that the Giants, are, unfortunately, dead last on the schedule for Baseball America’s top-30 prospect list. You’ll have to wait until the first week of February to get the full rankings. But if you glance at the community top prospect rankings on McCovey Chronicles, you’ll get a pretty good flavor. The lists are more similar than dissimilar, though there’s a couple wrinkles in mine you might not expect.
I wonder if he has an account here.

I am with this process a bit longer. Think how proud we will be when one of these dudes plays a few ML games, maybe even significant ones, and…we can say, hey I voted for that guy as 28th best Giants prospect!! omg!!!
Quirarte got my vote again. This 25 man team needs a closer. E.Q. was a darn good one at Northridge, which plays good teams, also started there. And excellent closer in the Norwest. McBryde is not that young.
