Signing Sabathia and obtaining a decent power hitting corner infielder makes the Giants’ a contender again in the NL west. It will be interesting to see if the other NL west teams, who all look like they’re not going to spend much, suddenly whip out their wallets in reaction to the Giants’ moves.

Especially if they can land Burrell, Sabathia, & Renteria. They are then right in the thick of things, assuming Pablo, Freddie, & Co. keep developing well. This team is suddenly looking pretty interesting.
