Trade Values

How about a little bit less insulting, and a little more thought invocation?  Of course we know Jonathan Sanchez, Bengie Molina, and possibly Randy Winn are hot trade commodities for the Giants.  I'm wondering what the trade values are of a certain few players that I would be willing to part ways with, were I Brian Sabean.  What would you guys grade the trade values of some Giants players?  Assuming A+ being Matt Cain, and F- being Barry Zito...

Emmanuel Burris -

Kevin Frandsen -

Nate Schierholtz -

Fred Lewis -

Alex Hinshaw -

Dinner with Willie Mays -

Brian Bocock -

Extra Credit:

After you give your grades, pretend to be a GM and offer up some trades.

Not much

I don’t think any of those players mentioned would have much trade value. Fred Lewis would seem to have the most, but he’s coming off surgery. If the Giants could get a very good prospect — or a starting caliber second baseman, as if that’s going to happen — for him, I would pull the trigger before I shot myself in the foot by waiting.

i doubt we could even give bocock away

burriss- B-
frandsen- F nothing until he proves he is healthy, if he is healthy ill say D+ to C
Nate- C
Lewis- B
Hinshaw- C
Dinner with mays – priceless
bocock- as good of a chance as trading zito after the 2007 season

Regarding Sanchez...

I think the Giants front office has actually done a pretty good job with the whole Sanchez trade situation; when the season ended, we all knew he was gonna be dangled, but didn’t really expect much unless he was packaged. However, their reluctance to trade him because of his perceived value to our team, whose main asset is its relatively strong starting pitching department, has increased his value.

I don’t know if thats actually the reason, but I think it’s pretty undeniable that his value right now far exceeds what it was when the offseason began, and could continue to rise as teams become more desperate for decent starting pitching. I also believe that if we did trade him (possibly as a package) for that value, we could pretty adequately fill that void through short term free agent signings like RJ. To me, that would be the perfect situation, especially with all the pitching we gots waiting in the wings.

Anyways…

Burriss- 76%
Frandsen- 67%
Nate- 77%
Flew- 83%
Hinshaw- 74%
Dinner with Willie- 109. He actually used to live next to one of Dad’s my coworkers in Atherton and would give out signed baseballs on Halloween
Bocock- 61%

Remember, every time you rosterbate, Sabean kills another prospect by calling him up too soon.

If God had intended us not to rosterbate, he would've made our arms shorter.

Like piss all over my Dave Roberts free ’07 Dave Roberts poster…or smuggle it into a game and get it eliminated.
