Sandoval, Williams 3rd and 4th at gunning down baserunners
...according to Baseball America.
Oh Jackson Williams. I knew I adopted you to do something other than occasionally clean out the storm gutter. Which you need to do, by, the way, if you expect me to take the padlock off the pantry.
But more importantly, with regards to Sandoval, that reignites the question, are we sure we want to permanently move him to a corner and give up on him behind the plate? I know there's no way he's supplanting Money this year, but this is the second year in a row he's been in the top echelon of gunners according to BA; it could potentially be a waste if we don't give him some chances to keep polishing his defense.

I know there's never been a problem..
With Pablo’s arm. That’s why he was tried out at 3B for that year, since he has such a great arm. It sure would be a pity to waste that arm at 1B.

Finally someone agrees with me about that.

Not saying...
That he should play 3B, just that at first he’d be wasted. Maybe we should put him in RF and stick Schierholtz at 3B…

Pablito playing RF in Mays Field would be hilarity personified.

Could it be any funnier than watching Glenallen Hill man RF at The Stick?

I'll play stupid (It's a God - given talent!) and ask why.
Are you thinking he’s Bengie’s successor? Is he quick enough on his feet for third?
5’-11" , 245…thass’ a lotta meat , Meat…hey , wherever.
Just don’t put him in some position where his bat can’t play , lol

Like Williams’ arm. Think he’ll have to toe the mound if he wants to make the big show in SF.

Almost correct. Then you got to add the move of Posey to SS
by wilriv21 on Dec 16, 2008 12:35 PM PST up reply actions 0 recs
benjie really needs to get moved for anything of value so pablo can move back behind the plate where his glove and bat are quite a bit more valuable.

I think that Sandoval’s value really is, easily, at its greatest if he’s a catcher. I hope that in the long run he’s given every chance to succeed at that position, even if in the short run we have to play him elsewhere to make sure that he doesn’t rot.

Then where do we put Posey when he eventually gets promoted?

Let the best man win! There’s no such thing as too many good players. If Posey is the better catcher, then you have the luxury of possibly trading Sandoval. If Sandoval is the better catcher, then vice versa. More than that, you face the possibility of still not having 3B filled, in which case either player could fill that. Like wilriv says, Posey has some more versatility than Sandoval and can be moved around with greater ease.
On the other hand, neither one might even work out, in which case we’ll be perfectly happy to have the other.
And if both fail to work… well then… sucks to be us?
