a little late, but thanks again for the link...
and I agree, the Giants hopefully will clean him up.
The rating is a little aggressive and from a health perspective, King’s mechanics are obviously risky, but he’s a lefty, young, etc (as outlined in the article) with a low – mid 90’s fastball. He’s a guy that could put it all together and really take off. Almost every pitcher on that list past Sosa, pretty much are what they are, except King.

Yeah, I was gonna say King’s mechanics are bizarre as far as his right leg goes. First his foot nearly scrapes the ground (kinda Nen-like), then it goes back up before violently planting with his knee locked. Then, it looks like he’s almost pushing his weight backward away from the plate.
Weird.

weird is exactly how I would describ it...
I think it has to do with him throwing across his body and then pitching up hill. The mechanics are not pretty though he does seem to have an idea that he needs to make his way quickly throughout his wind-up.
The problem is that his mechanics have been shaped this way over the course of his life and drastic changes are difficult. So they need to take his current motion, and simply make it more efficient. I like what they did with Alderson, so maybe they can have the same results with King.
He looks like a good athlete and he seems flexible so that helps if a pitcher is looking to make changes.

I would think that if he could just add a little bend to his right knee at the point of his foot-strike, that it wouldn’t retard his forward momentum. It look like he could easily pick up a 3 to 5 feet on his fastball if kept his momentum going toward the plate.
Hard to say, though. I’m sure he’s had coaches that know more about mechanics than me helping him.

I kinda liked that little swing. It reminds a bit of Dave Roberts, whose offense would be fine if he was a SS.

The finish kind of reminds me of Velez more than Roberts. (not to compare him to velez in terms of skills)
As the writer says, defense, patience at the plate, and contact go a long way, especially coming from a shortstop. And isn’t he pretty fast, too? Can’t remember

Yet he’s not.
