Mets Interested in Pierre?
for some reason the mets are interested in pierre, assuming the dodgers pick up a huge chunk of salary. if they are looking for a speedster, i do believe we have postseason hero who could fill the need for a stolen base threat.
although i think he's a great clubhouse guy, i really want to move roberts. i'd prefer the rotating 4 outfielders plus bowker as the backup. i really want to see what nate and bowker can do and feel any at-bats going to roberts aren't going to see what our future clubs are about.
what would it take to move roberts? $2.5M and roberts for a A/AA arm?

2009 SF outfield candidates:
Lewis
Rowand
Winn
Schierholtz
Bowker
Roberts
SF will only carry five outfielders so one must go. Only two hitters that can hit RH in the bunch so they are probably safe. Roberts is an ideal candidate to be moved. Toss in $3MM and net a fungo bat and I would be happy.

I think..
If we still have Roberts then we carry 5. If we don’t have Roberts then we carry 4 with ::shudders:: Velez as the 5th OF.

looks to be false

all the same, their outfield options look a little thin so maybe this would still work. he’s owed $6.5M next year, so if we throw in wil’s $3M it’s only $3.5M for a good backup outfielder.
