Good for them. I hope they succeed.
This article has a video of the two kids: http://www.usatoday.com/sports/baseball/2008-11-04-india-pitchers_N.htm
Also, a funny from the article: The first time they saw a baseball game, watching USC play Washington State, Patel was confused.
“What did the shortstop do wrong?” he asked.
House: “Why do you say that?”
Patel: “He’s the only one in the infield without a base.”

Also, I found their blog.

We went with JB sir to breakfast at a great American breakfast eatery called Dennys. Rinku ordered a breakfast aclled the Lumberjack. We now know that a Lumberjack is a person who works as a tree cutter in the forrest so they must eat a lot of food. this breakfast was quite huge. It had eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, potatos, breads, and pancakes. I had French Toast and both meals were very fulfilling.
Awesome. I hope these guys make it.

Bay City Ball
I’m thinking at least one will get some time as a major league reliver. Even for just a month. One is a lefty that can throw around 90 with a project curve.

I liked this quote:
I got one batter strike out, but couple of them (I hit 5 batters in one inning) were hurt by the pitching ball while they got ready to strike. Fortunately, these guys are sports. They are well aware of the spirit of the game.

Grand slam!

Great
Now Grant’s gonna expect us to notice any time he changes anything about the site.
Way to set a precedent, jerkface.
GROUGTHINK ALERT
Wait
Grant actually does work? When does this happen? I always thought he had an army of oompa-loompas who did the work.
Insanity is just a state of mind.
Waves.
Hello. I’m one of the oompa loompas.

the Pirates plans?
Are they planning on Offshoring their Rookie Ball team to Mumbai? Because if that was the case, they are fashioning transactions in the completely opposite manner. I guess that would explain Schmidt for Rios et al…
But really, if you are going to sign somebody with no experience from India, shouldn’t it be Shiva. He is like ambidextrous or something.

Vishnu has four arms. I’d want Vishnu in the bullpen.

Vishnu in the 'pen
He would at least be able to answer the call well.
…
…
…
[crickets chirping]
Come on!
Four arms… Bullpen phone… Indian guy… Call centers…
Ok, I am going to preempt your gut-gnawing anticipation: this is likely my last racist post of the day.
Good day.

I hope these kids make it
but I’m afraid the Pirates might be doing this mostly to try to market themselves in India. That is a market of a billion people basically untapped.

Perhaps
But cricket is the sport of choice in India. Cricket players are stars in India. And I’m talking about non Indian cricket players here. Indian cricket players are treated like national heroes, demigods.
The Pirates aren’t going to be marketing in a vacuum.
Unless these guys make it, it’s unlikely that simply signing a couple Indians is going to do much, if anything at all, to help the Pirates in their marketing.

The second Million Dollar Arm contest is going on next month. I imagine the Pirates won’t have a monopoly on the winners of the next contest.

From their blog
We right away went to the internet to locate Pittsburgh on map. It is in north east part of USA and looks like very good city.
Prepare to be disappointed.
In their blog they did say how impressed they were with road traffic here in the States. Apparently it’s every man for himself driving in India. Driving in America can be a free for all at times, but from what I understand it’s much worse over there.
