Jesus Guzman

Does anyone know if the Jesus Guzman signing was ever announced/confirmed by the Giants? I was hoping this one was real, as this kid's got upside for cheap.

I was thinking that perhaps the Giants’ haven’t officially signed him yet so he wouldn’t be eligible for the Rule V draft. Perhaps they just have a handshake agreement.

Thanks. So he cannot be protected from the Rule V draft then? I’m confused about that. I think it was rotoworld stating that he’d probably be lost in the draft if he indeed did sign with the Giants….

if he’s taken in the draft, he’d have to spend the whole season in the majors with the team that selected him, wouldn’t he? Considering he hit only .237 in 59 atbats when called up to AAA ball late in the season, I would be surprised if anyone would want to keep him on the major league roster the entire season. At least I have my fingers crossed that that would be the case!
