Hennessey signs with Orioles
Sad to see him go.....(sort of)
http://www.rotoworld.com/content/home_MLB.aspx
Just a minor league invite but he is no longer a Giant.
How do you get to 75 words on this thing? Just keep repeating your self over and over and over again?
No on Furcal, Yes on Tex!! No on Furcal, Yes on Tex!! No on Furcal, Yes on Tex!! No on Furcal, Yes on Tex!! No on Furcal, Yes on Tex!! No on Furcal, Yes on Tex!!

I for one
won’t miss him. I never thought too highly of the guy, although he seemed to have surprisingly effective starts every once in awhile

I liked him. Seems like a guy who’s done ok despite not having overwhelming stuff. His health issues last year ruined any chance of doing well. Hope he stays healthy now and I wish him the best.
Yes we did!

same here.
I figured someone between the Royals, O’s, Pirates ( and maybe the Rockie) would give him another shot. I just figured we would not know who it was tell a lot closer to spring training. Good news for him to be picked up so soon I think.

I was about to post the same thing as the main post
I didn’t hate him, but at the same time, I didn’t really like him at all…But good for him maybe he’ll get a better shot with them.

Good luck playing for my favorite team that's named for a part of the female anatomy.
Except, of course, the Giants.

VERY well played!
Forgot about them. Whenever anyone mentions “the baggies,” I lose interest. I don’t love the artificially inflated domes, even when they don’t collapse, as Minnesota’s does.

Heavens to Betsy for who? A middle reliever? Source?
The bases were drunk, and I painted the black with my best yakker. But blue squeezed me, and I went full. I came back with my heater, but the stick flares one the other way and the chalk flies for two bases. Three earnies! Next thing I know, skipper hooks me and I'm sipping suds with the clubby.

Ordinarily, I don’t like the post-padding, either, but this one consisted of
No on Furcal, Yes on Tex!! No on Furcal, Yes on Tex!! No on Furcal, Yes on Tex!!
…and thus I must approve.

Hennessey Can Hit
Hennessey might have been second on the Giants’ current shortstop “depth chart” had he been brought back. Too bad he’s in the AL and won’t get to hit (or steal bases)..

I always liked Hennessey. He didn’t have great stuff & wasn’t that impressive, but he was our unimpressive pitcher. Now he’s not. So who is our next unimpressive now that Brad & Correia are gone?
Don't think, it could only hurt the ballclub.

We didn’t groom that unimpressive pitcher. We just harnessed him.

Hennessey would have been a good 5th/6th starter for the Giants going into the 2009 season.
Better than Correia at least.
But good luck to him. Always thought he was solid.

It’s like the Orioles are collecting washed up Giants pitchers.
Was I the only one who really liked Brian Burres?

So, am I going to get to adopt someone else? Are we re-drafting?

with most teams giving 6 or 7 starters big chunks of starts a year, i dont see why he wasn’t brought back, after the way he finished the season. i hope they bring back correia and give him compete a pen job.

always liked Brad. With all he went through health wise, it was amazing he even got to pitch in the bigs. Hope he does better than Ainsworth did in Baltimore.

I don't hate him, I don't love him
Which is the total opposite of his starts, then either I hated him or I loved him.
For a starter, he made a good reliever. I thought he was a good reliever, but I’m not sad he’s gone. If the Orioles use him as a reliever, he’ll probably do well for them, but I think the main reason the Giants let him go was because he is in arbitration and even with his horrible season, would probably get somewhere in the $2M range. Instead that pays half of Affeldt’s salary. I think that was a great trade-off.
In any case, we need fireballers in the bullpen and Hennessey was no fireballer. Or, rather, we need strikeout pitchers and he wasn’t one. He relied on the fielders and thus some games random luck bit him in the rear and other games he was Cy Young. We need guys who can shut down the other team with strikeouts. With Wilson, Affeldt, Romo and Hinshaw, that is a pretty good group of strikeout pitchers, and Sadler hopefully will figure things out and join them. I also have a sneaky feeling that Sosa will be changed to a reliever if he doesn’t shape up next season. And hopefully Valdez can come back healthy, but I’m not hopeful.
Here’s baseball-reference.com’s Similar Pitchers for Hennessey (I suppose it is ironic that at least two former Giants are on the list, #5 and #7):
1. Dave Beard
2. Kameron Loe
3. Jim Lindsey
4. Willis Roberts
5. Chris Brock
6. Jim Winn
7. Jason Grilli
8. Ken Clay
9. Bruce Cunningham
10. Cloyd Boyer (brother of Clete?)
Besides the Giants names, I think the only name I recognize is Kameron Loe, and that’s because of my fantasy league experience.
