McCovey Chronicles Community Prospect List: #5-8
As a solution to the problem of our various ties, please vote for your preference for the #5-8 prospects in this poll. This poll will be open for 48 hours. After that, no matter if the votes are 1 off, that is the final order.
Note: This is the order you think is the best. Gillaspie and Noonan were a tie at #5 and Sosa and Rodriguez were heading to a tie at #7. Whatever order is chosen that order will be used to fill #5-8.
1. SP Madison Bumgarner
2. "C" Buster Posey
3. SP Tim Alderson
4. 1B Angel Villalona
Conor Gillaspie, 3B, 21 - Drafted 2008, #37 overall. Hit .419/.500/.697 with 38 BB and 22 K over 234 AB his junior year of college at Wichita State in 2008. Hit .269/.352/.344 between Rookie Ball and Low-A in 2008 over 93 AB. He torched the Cape Cod league, a wooden bat league, in 2007 with a .345/.448/.673 line, earning league MVP award. Projects to hit for good average, a good OBP, and decent power.
Nick Noonan, 2B, 19 - Drafted 2007, #32 overall. Hit .316/.357/.451 over 206 AB in Rookie Ball in 2007 with 18 SB and 3 CS in 2007. Hit .279/.315/.415 over 499 AB in A-Ball in 2008 with 29 SB and 4 CS. Survived an aggressive assignment to Augusta in 2008.
Rafael Rodriguez, OF, 16 - Signed out of the Domincan Republic on his 16th birthday. As Baggs has put it, "Rodriguez is big — 6 foor-5 and 195 pounds — and plays an athletic right field. He has a strong arm, is a good runner and projects to hit for power."
Henry Sosa, RHP, 23 - Signed out of the Dominican Republic in 2004. Over three seasons has thrown 215.2 IP, 179 H, 238 K, 93 BB, 19 HR, 1.26 WHIP, and a 3.22 ERA. His 2008 season was derailed early on when he tore his patella tendon. When he came back he threw 56.1 IP, 62 H, 58 K, 18 BB, 6 HR, 1.42 WHIP, 4.31 ERA, and a 38% groundball rate. He throws a fastball in the mid to high 90's, a curve, and a change.

Wait, where’s the “Sosa, Noonan, Rodriguez, Gillaspie” option? I DON’T UNDERSTAND THE FORMAT.
What a stupid idea.

To describe it better for others too. Pick the order that you like the most, since Noonan and Gillaspie tied, then Sosa and Rodriguez were about to tie.

really, what I am learning this year is that democracy and voting is always a kind of sampling. Never really a pure counting of everybody. SO even though I had Sosa, Gillespie, Noonan, RR, I am not complaining.
and they are still counting votes up here in 4th congressional Dist., go! Charlie Brown

I’m starting to doubt the validity of this. Seriously, is there a way to see who is voting for what choices, to see if we have ballot stuffing to force ties?

We need a debate
Proponents of each prospect espouse the virtues of their choice. Maybe get one well-informed volunteer for each prospect to make the strongest case they can for said prospect. Allow counter-arguments and responses to be made. Perhaps people will be persuaded one way or another – I know that I could be, and I’m sure I’m not the only one.
I'm as tall as Mel - why can't I hit 500 home runs?

So far it looks like the Kieschnick/Ishikawa/Pucetas at #7 voters are breaking for Sosa rather than Rodriguez. Which makes sense.

Yeah, you guys were complaining way too early. I don’t even usually check this site until Monday…perhaps there are others like me. Let’s see how things shake out Monday afternoon.
By the way, my choice is leading comfortably. I’m not surprised. Can we now say that Nick Noonan is a better prospect than Connor Gillaspie?
Yes We Can!
Am I mad, in a coma, or back in time? Whatever's happened, it's like I've landed on a different planet. Now, maybe if I can work out the reason, I can get home.

Prospect Value
I voted Gillaspie, Noonan, Sosa, Rodriguez, but I’m now thinking that Noonan should be ahead of Gillaspie. Because of that silly handshake deal addition of Gillaspie to the 40 man roster, he probably decreased his value to the organization because he is starting his clock early. All I can say is that I hope he doesn’t struggle or get injured and miss a year.

Who's Next?
Adrianza and Tanner – The guy who wrote the Arizona Summer League top 20 list for BA slobbered over Adrianza and Baggerly said in his blog that he was going to put him in the top 10 of his prospect list. Tanner is 3 years younger than Pucetas and has been playing at the same level for the last 3 years with stats just a tick behind him. Tanner is the same age as Barnes, but playing a level above.
I would also like to see Ben Copeland and Jose Casilla as testers.

It’s ridiculous.
I’m going to vote for a tie. :^)

I’m surprised that this has turned into a (relative) rout. Noonan voters, it seems, strongly prefer Sosa to Rodriguez; but Gillaspie voters are evenly split between the two. What explains this? Can’t wait to see the exit polls.
Also, although Gillaspie finished a few votes ahead of Noonan when they were head to head, in this runoff he’s being decisively beaten.
