He should definitely get the clear ones, I think they are much better now-a-days than when I had them.

Who else on McC had braces growing up? You can join my BRACES KREW if had ’em.

I HAD THEM!!

Back in the olden days when they were made out of dinosaur bones.

Seriously, I did have them. They sucked. When they got tightened I couldn’t eat for days.

No braces here

I was strictly a bite plate / retainer / head gear kind of guy. Once I had my bite aligned, braces would have just been cosmetic and, even though I asked for braces for my birthday, that was just too much money to put into my already impressively good looks..

I had braces for many many years. My teeth were ghastly.

There amass been plenty of articles written this spring about the stud shortstop Matt Cain and Tim Lincecum , as well as the fluid young outfielders and thirteen basemen Kevin Frandsen.

Nope

My teeth were naturally beautiful.

My current Interwebs obsession is pretty awesome. Also, my website is called ChatterBalks Dot Com. It's not being updated right now. Hope for more at your own risk.

I had them.

I had quite the overbite. Now remember I’m a bit older than all of you here. I had the headgear, all the accessories. Luckily I was in the 6th grade at the time, so I didn’t really care what the boys thought and if I didn’t like the comment I would hit them. Needless to say the 6th grade teacher had a talks with me. She also said I shouldn’t wear baseball caps ‘cos "you’re a young lady now" , yada yada yada.

Definitely go with the clear.

by timmeh on Nov 15, 2008 12:42 AM PST to parent up   0 recs

Without getting a good look, I don’t think Timmy’s eligible for the clear Invisalign. I’m kind of a dentist so I know that the clear ones can only move/shift/rotate teeth a certain amount. If he has overlap/rotation over a certain amount, he becomes ineligible. What he CAN get are the traditional metal brackets except put them on the insides of his teeth. The only downside to that is tongue blockage which will probably affect his speech/eating and other normal habits. But good for him. If he thinks he’s getting the a ton of pink taco now, imagine when he’s got the straight pearly whites to show off to the ladies.

I had the whole package growing up; braces (top and bottom), retainer, rubber bands and neck gear…can I be in the club? obviously with regards to the mouth hardware I wasn’t in a whole lot of ’em growing up, haha.

I think you can be president of the club!

I only had top braces because I had a David Letterman gap-tooth thing going on. Thankfully my parents shelled out the dough to fix it.

I, too had the complete braces package (with the full array of accessories!). Luckily, I had them in 5th grade and was done with them by 7th grade.

Some good the bottom ones did though. One of my bottom teeth went crooked again almost immediately after I got them removed, and no retainer in the world could prevent it.

by rightcenterfielder on Nov 14, 2008 8:39 AM PST to parent up   0 recs

They told me I needed the headgear, but it never materialized. I had the rest of package, though.

The worst part was that I had them all through high school. So, I was obviously one of the cool kids.

by Gumbercules86 on Nov 14, 2008 8:50 AM PST to parent up   0 recs

I think he shouldn’t get the clear ones. It will make things that much more hilarious when he dominates.

Surely this is a coincidence!

I had braces twice, and the terminator thing once. Well, people called it the terminator because it was two metal rods that connected my bottom teeth to my top and it had a metal plate across the roof of my mouth. That sucked.

Fourth grade to ninth grade

freakin’ sucked. i had head and neck gear for two years, a retainer for the rest of high school. i even had those zigzag rubber bands you put on when you weren’t eating that made it so you couldn’t open your mouth. I had my own drawer in the orthodontist’s office.

I had braces from around sixth to eighth grade. This was before photography was invented, though, so there’s no visual evidence of it.

I would have liked to have braces as a kid. I’ve been kicking around the idea to get them now, but I’m not sure I like the idea of having braces in my mid twenties.

Been there...

From age 6 to 15. Palette expanders, retainers, head gear, braces for 3 years, rubber bands, more retainers. ugh.

Next question!

How many of you still live in your mothers basement!?

I need braces and yet, I cannot get them. Isn’t it a bitch when you finally get a permanent job with the benefits and they don’t cover orthodontia for those over age 19?

I never had braces....

I had a failed attempt at a retainer that even my 11 year old self could have told you wasn’t going to work. You can’t move one tooth past another tooth if it is physically blocking the way.

As a result, my teeth are currently pretty fucked up. I’m also going bald.

Anyone got a problem with that ? :)

And I’m gonna have to get them again. I’m not sure if my teeth suck or my dentist sucks.

by Sammy Danger on Nov 16, 2008 4:24 PM PST   0 recs

it could be many things. I had mine rather young 4th grade – 6th grade, but then my wisdom teeth came in and the bottoms moved and some crossed again. So it happens.
