RIP Barry Zito's mom
A close friend of mine who works as a nurse at a hospital told me last night that Barry Zito's mom has passed away. My thoughts and prayers are with Barry Zito and his family as they deal with this difficult situation. Sorry I do not have link to provide all of you.

My current Interwebs obsession is pretty awesome. Also, my website is called ChatterBalks Dot Com. It's not being updated right now. Hope for more at your own risk.

herb caen would be proud here.
Still-proud, adoptive mama of Notgardo Alfonzo, who's back from the 50-game purgatory. He promises never to do it again. I couldn't get him to promise to hit, though. We're working on that with bribes of M&Ms, kind of like potty training.

How did you do that?
Am I mad, in a coma, or back in time? Whatever's happened, it's like I've landed on a different planet. Now, maybe if I can work out the reason, I can get home.

"While conservatives tell you 'leave things alone and no one will lose,' and liberals tell you 'interfere a lot and no one will lose,' baseball says 'someone will lose.' Not only says it - but insists upon it! ... Democracy is lovely, but baseball's more mature." BVCE supports SF Dugout and Manny Burriss.

My condolences.
"You lost me at carrots, which was the first draft of 'you had me at hello'".
Rest well, Mrs. Zito...
Dear Mrs. Zito:
I pay you the ultimate compliment any of us can give to a woman – you raised your son to be a fine man.
In his time in San Francisco, he has met with much disappointment and adversity. Yet, I have never heard your son raise his voice in anger, lash out at others in frustration, or fail to speak to, or of, anyone in a manner that was not respectful or polite. To know of his charitable work is just as unsurprising.
I am sure that this is no accident. During your time on earth, you have done a magnificent job in raising your son. As the father of a young child, I believe that this is the most than I could wish for.
When my time in this world is done, I hope I might earn the pleasant rest and eternal peace that you have.
May you rest in peace.

Zito’s mother passes away at 65
San Francisco hurler shared close relationship with mom
By Chris Haft / MLB.com
MLB Headlines
Roberta Jean Rosser Zito, the mother of Giants left-hander Barry Zito, died Thursday in Los Angeles at Cedars Sinai Medical Center. She was 65.
Funeral services are pending, said a spokesperson for Zito.
Zito shared a strong bond with his mother. Roberta said in a 2002 interview with MLB.com, "I would describe our relationship as very special and very different because of Barry’s particular nature. His complete self-acceptance and the freedom he gives himself to just be himself has always surprised me.
“[The] only thing that’s changed is I just don’t see him as much. But we still talk all the time, and sometimes he’ll call in the middle of night just to ask for prayer. Our relationship is still very special and open. He doesn’t consider me an authoritarian, but more of a friend.”

"It kind of gives everybody else out there who is not a big person the motivation and the inspiration that they know they can do it, too."--Tim Lincecum
