All voters, except one, found spot for Lincecum
The above is the title of the article on the Chronicle today about the Chicago writer, Chris De Luca, who didn't vote for Lincecum. His reasons:
"I thought Webb's victories (22) stood out to me more than anything, and Lincecum didn't have the victories."
"Santana (undefeated after June 28) stood out because there was so much pressure not just being in New York, but to be who he is."
"With Lidge being a perfect closer (41-for-41 in save chances), that was a tough pick for me, not to pick him No. 1."
It seems that every other BBWAA writer found Lincecum a very worthwhile candidate for the Cy, even the homers in New York ("What swayed me, and I know the extra attention you get when voting for someone in your own market, is how he had so many expectations coming in here with his $137.5 million contract. He was expected to reverse the fortunes of the team, and he had only one bad start,") and Arizona ("I valued his durability and ability to keep the Diamondbacks in games and in the pennant race. He made nine starts of at least eight innings, the highest in the league."). But De Luca couldn't get past saves, wins, and playing in New York.
I doubt this is a worthwhile fanpost, but I found these quotes amusing all the same.

Wins FTW….wait a minute.

This was pretty thoroughly discussed in the Lincecum Wins thread.

I figured that was probably going to be the case, and I’m certainly okay with this post being deleted, if it’s totally superfluous. With that thread, I saw the whole 400+ posts and decided I got to that party too late to join. So I didn’t read it.

Does anyone have
that writer’s email address?
Still-proud, adoptive mama of Notgardo Alfonzo, who's back from the 50-game purgatory. He promises never to do it again. I couldn't get him to promise to hit, though. We're working on that with bribes of M&Ms, kind of like potty training.

I doubt this writer has an email address, and even he did, it would be very unlike us to post it 50 or 60 different times in a single thread.

Really Chris Deluca
doesn’t bother me half as much as the entire roster of ESPN talent ripping Lincecum’s selection for three days straight (it’s one thing when Skip Bayless sounds off in his usual clueless manner, but did Wilbon and Kornheiser really have to devote segments in two consecuitve days to ripping Timmy, while admitting they had no clue which hand he pitches with?), due almost entirely and quite explicitly to the fact that none of the talking heads aren’t interested in the Giants and don’t really want to read or speak about the Giants in a post-Bonds era until such time as any that they find them interesting again, which is a vastly worse criteria for an opinion than evan Deluca’s lame brained ones.

You mean the same ESPN ...
that Tuesday was running a promo all day that said the Cy Young was awarded to Tim Lincecum, who pitched for a last place team? I can hear the producer that O.K.‘ed the clip … "Fourth place? Last place? Who cares? Don’t change a thing. ‘Last place’ sounds better!!"

I only saw one clip on SC about the Lincecum award, and the anchor said fourth place. Didn’t watch the talking heads, so don’t know what they said.
