OT: Do you like writing about the Giants? Do you like STATS?

As you may know by my constant spam barrages, I run a Giants blog entitled Bay City Ball. I started my site about 2 years ago with the intention of expanding it to other dedicated authors.

Here's my pitch: I'm looking for dedicated authors who are committed to writing about the Giants in the framework of modern statistical analysis. If you're interested, please send me an email with your name and a sample of any work you've done. I'm not for sure if I'll be adding writers right this very moment, but if I get some great entries, I'd love to add someone to the mix.

You can email me at: chris-at-baycityball.com

I can’t stress this enough, I want committed people. If you don’t plan to post a topic 1-2 times a week, then don’t apply. That might sound harsh, but I want people who are genuinely interested in baseball analysis.

And if this recruitment violates any McC laws, feel free to nuke this post moderators.

I do like these things (and I like Xanthan, he’s a fine young computer) but I believe my demanding job and school commitments would make me an intermittent poster at best.

The Denker bus is now bound for San Diego. Those who were passengers on it are now angrily stranded at a gas station in Modesto, CA. Not much about baseball here .

You’d probably just MSPaint sad pictures of Travis Denker anyways!

It’s OK, maybe one day the Denker Bus will come back to us.

Once we trade Matt Cain for him

It’s in Denker Bus heaven now.

Seriously, when I saw the Scott Olsen trade my first thought was “we could have traded Denker for that”.

Looks more like a Denker Hummer (can you say hummer on the interWeb?).

They say some players get out of bed hitting; Pablo Sandoval doesn't wait that long

by bgunn on Nov 12, 2008 11:42 AM PST to parent up   0 recs

Seems to me like that bus should be much shorter!

ZING!

Thank you very much, folks! I’ll be here all week. Don’t forget to tip your waitresses. Try the veal!

If I had more time, I would be interested. Sadly, having to earn a living prevents this.

You would have had the best statistical analysis of pie in blog history!

PORP (PIE OVER REPLACEMENT PIE)

Can you do balloon animals? Maybe we could do a KIDS KORNER WITH LARS

I am on a conference call

I had to put myself on mute so I could laugh!

I can do balloon baseball players! Doing a balloon Benetiz is really easy. Just add more air.

PORP is a good one. Another STAT is PIE+. PIE+ adjusts for flavor variation and elevation of where a pie is made!

by Lars The Wanderer on Nov 12, 2008 9:32 AM PST   0 recs

bah…reply fail

by Lars The Wanderer on Nov 12, 2008 9:32 AM PST to parent up   0 recs

PIE+ sounds revolutionary.

I didn’t know you could conference call your mom?

by Lars The Wanderer on Nov 12, 2008 10:32 AM PST to parent up   0 recs

i agree on this PIE+ assessment

but a graph would be handy.

! Doing a balloon Benetiz is really easy. Just add more air.

Because he’s fat or because he blows?

..so allow me to present Tim Lincecum and Matt Cain as two sweet, sweet bottles of warming hooch.

the most important pitching stats of them all.

You're forgetting saves!

My current Interwebs obsession is pretty awesome. Also, my website is called ChatterBalks Dot Com. It's not being updated right now. Hope for more at your own risk.

BASEBALL IS PLAYED BY PEOPLE NOT NUMBERS YOU NERDS

There amass been plenty of articles written this spring about the stud shortstop Matt Cain and Tim Lincecum , as well as the fluid young outfielders and thirteen basemen Kevin Frandsen.

I barely maintained my goal of 1-2 posts per week on my (now-long-unupdated) blarg. I’d only disappoint, even if I could make graphs as purty as yours.

It's my blarg! Quick Pitch

Pah

As if I could be found doing something as nerdy as writing a baseball blog.

F YOUR STATS

Nah, I just can’t commit to the workload. I’m currently taking a huge leap of faith for an internship for next year and if I don’t get that, it’s back to business as usual with SF Dugout and possibly running a blog here on SBN. I will still hit you up for the interview for my class very soon, though.

"While conservatives tell you 'leave things alone and no one will lose,' and liberals tell you 'interfere a lot and no one will lose,' baseball says 'someone will lose.' Not only says it - but insists upon it! ... Democracy is lovely, but baseball's more mature." BVCE supports SF Dugout and Manny Burriss.

Congrats and good luck Baron.

Guess you’ll be sparser here for a while then.
